Drake’s security guard shot amid beef with Kendrick Lamar

Police are currently probing a shooting incident that occurred at the lavish Toronto residence of renowned Canadian rapper Drake.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday morning, around 2 am local time, near the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue within the upscale Bridle Path neighbourhood.

A security guard stationed outside the property gates sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening wounds.

According to authorities, the assailant fled the scene in a vehicle. While Drake, a five-time Grammy award winner and Toronto native, escaped unharmed, his security team confirmed he was safe. However, police couldn’t confirm whether Drake was present during the attack, although they affirmed ongoing cooperation with his team.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and investigations are underway. Initial reports suggest the guard was targeted in a drive-by shooting, sustaining a gunshot wound to the upper chest. He was found unconscious and underwent immediate surgery upon arrival at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the incident coincides with a publicized feud between Drake, aged 37, and American rapper Kendrick Lamar, 36. The feud, marked by the release of diss tracks from both artists, has escalated, with personal jabs and references to each other’s families.

Drake, known by his birth name Aubrey Drake Graham, boasts an illustrious career in music, with 13 number-one tracks in the US, including hits like “God’s Plan,” “Work” featuring Rihanna, and “One Dance” featuring WizKid and Kyla.

As the most streamed male artist on Spotify, Drake is prominent in the global music scene.
