Hidden dangers of frequent eating after 40

0

Are you among the millions of adults over 40 who frequently eat?

Perhaps, you grab a snack every hour or eat multiple small meals throughout the day.

This habit can have serious health consequences, including weight gain, insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline.

As we age, our bodies undergo significant changes that increase the risks associated with frequent eating.

Many people eat frequently due to stress, boredom or social pressures, altering their eating habits.

The global population is ageing rapidly, leading to changes in physiological needs that impact health and quality of life.

Frequent eating is common among middle-aged and older adults, yet little is known about its health consequences.

This article reviews the current evidence on these consequences.

After 40, our bodies undergo significant physiological changes.

These changes impact our metabolism, hormone levels and overall health, making frequent eating particularly detrimental.

As we age, our resting metabolic rate slows and declines by 1-2 per cent per decade after age 20.

This leads to reduced calorie-burning efficiency. (Journal of Gerontology 2013)

Hormonal changes also play a crucial role.

Testosterone levels decrease by 1-2 per cent annually after age 40, this affects metabolism and body composition and leads to weight gain and other health issues. (Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism 2010)

Women experience hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause.

These changes result in a weight gain of 2.3 kg during this transition (International Journal of Obesity 2014).

Age-related muscle loss or sarcopenia, slows metabolism. It also increases the risk of chronic diseases and affects up to 50 per cent of adults over 80 (American Medical Directors Association).

Additionally, decreased insulin sensitivity contributes to the negative effects of frequent eating after 40 which declines by 20-30 per cent between ages 40 and 60.

Changes in gut bacteria and reduced physical activity also play a role. (Journal of Clinical Investigation 2015)

Risks

These risks include weight gain and obesity, which increase the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and certain cancers.

A study published in PLOS Medicine found that a sustained change from a typical Western diet to an optimised diet can increase life expectancy by more than a decade for young adults (Fadnes et al., 2022).

Research has shown that middle-aged adults who eat more often are more likely to experience weight gain and obesity, (Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics).

A diet high in refined carbohydrates, sugar and saturated fats can lead to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition). Middle-aged adults are also at increased risk of cardiovascular disease including heart disease and stroke, (Journal of the American College of Cardiology).

Additionally, there may be an increased risk of cognitive decline and certain cancers.

However, a diet high in antioxidants, fibre and omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce these risks, (Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease).

Middle-aged adults who eat more often experience increased symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome including bloating, abdominal pain and changes in bowel habits. (Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology)

Prevention

• Limit portion sizes to maintain a healthy weight and prevent overeating.
• Eat a balanced diet rich in whole, unprocessed foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats.
• Limiting your daily eating to two main meals. Avoid eating heavy, greasy or high-calorie foods, especially after 5 p.m.
• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day to control hunger and boost metabolism.
• Engage in regular exercise, aiming for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise a week
• Get enough sleep (7-9 hours per night) to regulate hunger hormones and support weight loss.
• Practice mindful eating by paying attention to hunger and fullness cues, eating slowly and savouring food.

The available evidence suggests that frequent eating after 40 increases the risk of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline.

Therefore, adults over 40 should adopt healthy lifestyle habits to promote overall health and well-being. Further research is needed to fully understand its health consequences.

Nigel Gaisie celebrated Anas’ victory over Kennedy Agyapong, vowed never to forgive him

Ghanaian preacher Prophet Nigel Gaisie has reportedly expressed his happiness following a recent U.S. court ruling in favor of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

This revelation was made by the leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim during a sermon.

According to Bishop Obinim, he received several calls from Gaisie after the verdict, during which Gaisie shared his bitterness towards Agyapong and vowed never to forgive him.

“He told me that because of what Kennedy Agyapong has put him through, no matter what Kennedy Agyapong goes through, he will never forgive him,” Obinim told his congregation.

This comes after Kennedy Agyapong, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a 2024 presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was sued by Anas in New Jersey over defamatory comments made during an interview with a U.S.-based Ghanaian blogger.

In the interview, Agyapong labeled Anas with terms such as “liar,” “thief,” “murderer,” and “blackmailer.”

The Essex County court in New Jersey ruled in Anas’ favor, awarding him $18 million in damages.

US Defamation Trial: Did Anas win or there was a mistrial

0

Anas Aremeyaw Anas (L) and Kennedy Agyapong (R) Anas Aremeyaw Anas (L) and Kennedy Agyapong (R)

A retired Court of Appeal judge, Isaac Duose, has shared valuable insights into the defamation suit between investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.

Speaking on whether there was a mistrial in the defamation case, in which the Essex County Court awarded $18 million in damages to Anas Aremeyaw Anas against Kennedy Agyapong, Duose stated that claims suggesting the case was a mistrial were inaccurate.

According to him, if any errors had occurred that would have resulted in a mistrial, the judge presiding over the case would have explicitly mentioned it.

Duose added that there would have been no reason for the judge to wait or delay if there had truly been grounds for declaring a mistrial.

“If the jury made any significant error which would lead to a mistrial, the judge would have said it immediately. If for any reason the judge thinks that the decision they have taken did not follow the direction he had given them, by way of finding facts, he would say it immediately. He doesn’t have to wait,” he told factcheckghana.com.

The legal luminary expressed his belief that the claims and suggestions of a mistrial were being propagated by the team of former lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong.

He reiterated that the judge would have declared a mistrial if that had been the case.

He therefore advised the legal team of the politician to file an application to substantiate their claims of a mistrial if they continue to uphold that position.

“They have to put in an application and prove that there was a mistrial. The judge himself on the spur of the moment would have declared that there was a mistrial and then discharged the jury,” Justice Duose said.

He added, “If the judge didn’t disagree with the jury at that point, anybody else who says there is a mistrial would have to bring the facts to support the claim.”

An Essex County Court in New Jersey awarded $18 million to investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in a defamation lawsuit against Kennedy Agyapong.

The lawsuit, filed on May 17, 2022, in the Essex County Superior Court, accused Kennedy Agyapong and media personality Frederick Asamoah of making defamatory statements about Anas during an episode of The Daddy Fred Show, an online program popular among Ghanaian audiences in the United States.

During the program, Agyapong allegedly made a series of false and damaging claims, including accusing Anas of being a criminal, a thief, and responsible for the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

However, some individuals have suggested that the case was a mistrial and that reports claiming the judge awarded $18 million in favor of Anas were false.

The Accra Sports Stadium was under tight security as Ghana faced Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Friday, March 21, 2025.

In an attempt to curb any possible chaos, officers from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces and National Security were strategically deployed in and around the venue throughout the game.

The heavy security deployed was not just outside the stadium, as officers were also seen inside, with some guarding the inner perimeter.

The Black Stars emphatically won 5-0 on the night, continuing their quest to secure a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.

The win extended head coach Otto Addo’s unbeaten record in World Cup qualifiers to five and placed the Black Stars at the top of the table with 12 points, two ahead of second-placed Madagascar.

Following their victory, the team will travel to Morocco to face Madagascar on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Lydia Forson Reacts to Adwoa Safo’s Explosive Interviews, Highlights Her Historic Legal Feat

0

Ghanaian actress and activist Lydia Forson has recently drawn attention with her remarks on former Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo’s candid interviews, highlighting Safo’s early legal accomplishments and the emotional weight of her revelations.

Sarah Adwoa Safo, who served as the MP for Dome Kwabenya and held the position of Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, has been in the spotlight following a series of interviews where she discussed her prolonged absence from parliamentary duties. In these interviews, Safo disclosed personal challenges, including the loss of a newborn and her eldest son’s critical illness in the United States, which necessitated her extended stay abroad. These revelations have sparked widespread discussions about the pressures faced by public figures balancing personal hardships with public responsibilities.

Lydia Forson, known for her candid opinions on societal issues, took to social media to express her thoughts on Safo’s disclosures. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Forson remarked:

“I’m shocked that so many of you didn’t know she was a lawyer—probably one of the youngest to be called to the bar if I remember correctly.”

This statement not only underscores Safo’s early achievements in the legal field but also brings to light the often-overlooked facets of public figures’ careers. Forson’s acknowledgment serves as a reminder of Safo’s professional credentials beyond her political engagements.

Delving deeper into Safo’s recent interviews, Forson expressed empathy towards the former MP’s experiences. She noted:

“It’s been interesting listening to her revelations—I just wish she’d spoken up earlier. Either way, there’s a lot of pain in her voice.”

This observation highlights the emotional toll that personal and professional challenges can have on individuals in the public eye. Forson’s comments have resonated with many, prompting discussions about the importance of mental health and support systems for public servants.

The reactions to Forson’s statements have been mixed. Some social media users corrected her, stating that Safo continues to practice law, emphasizing that her legal career is ongoing. Others sympathized with Safo’s plight, acknowledging the complexities of her situation. One user commented:

“She’s hurt and I share her sentiments but if NPP would’ve won and Bawumia had given her ministerial appointment she wouldn’t be here granting series of interviews to expose that party.”

This sentiment reflects the intricate dynamics of political affiliations and personal choices, shedding light on the multifaceted nature of public service.

Forson’s engagement with Safo’s narrative is not an isolated instance. The actress has a history of advocating for transparency and empathy in public discourse. Her recent support for YouTuber Ama Governor, who faced challenges in being called to the bar, further exemplifies Forson’s commitment to highlighting issues within Ghana’s legal and political frameworks.

In reflecting on Safo’s journey, it’s evident that public figures often grapple with personal struggles away from the limelight. Forson’s recognition of Safo’s early legal accomplishments serves as a poignant reminder of the diverse paths individuals traverse before and during their public service. As conversations continue, there’s a growing emphasis on understanding and addressing the personal dimensions that influence public roles.

In conclusion, Lydia Forson’s reflections on Sarah Adwoa Safo’s interviews have opened up a broader dialogue about the intersection of personal adversity and public duty. By acknowledging Safo’s legal milestones and the emotional weight of her recent revelations, Forson has contributed to a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by those in the public sphere. This discourse underscores the need for compassion, support, and a holistic view of individuals beyond their public personas.

Asantehene Is Involved in Galamsey – Dormaahene Alleges, Drops Proof

0

The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyeman Badu II, has accused the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, of being involved in the practice of illegal mining, commonly known as ‘galamsey’.

Speaking during a recent event at his palace, in which he addressed the chiefs and people of Bono, Nana Agyeman Badu II alleged that documents uncovered during a galamsey investigation implicated the Asantehene’s wife and by extension, the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom himself.

Agyeman Badu said a Joy News investigation into illegal mining in the country had implicated a company for mining an illegal concession. Dormaahene alleged that documents show that the company has Mrs. Julia Osei Tutu (née Amaning) as one of its founders/shareholders.

The Dormaa chief said this is definite proof that the Asantehene engages in galamsey, despite speaking out publicly many times against the menace.

Dormaahene is currently firing back following a few weeks of bad press, particularly in relation to the injury of Ghanaian media personality, Kofi Adoma Nwawani, who hails from the Bono region.

Adoma had gotten injured covering the 25th-anniversary festival of the Dormaahene’s ascension to the throne, yet the broadcaster, his wife, and those close to him allege the Dormaahene has done nothing to help him since the injury.

Dormaahene fired back at Kofi Adoma, alleging he was part of a propaganda ploy to tarnish the reputation of the Bono people and erase the glory from the 25th-anniversary festival.

Nana Agyeman Badu mentioned no names but heavily implied the plot emanates from the Asantes, which tracks why he went on to accuse the Asantehene of being engaged in galamsey.

Heavyweight boxing legend George Foreman dies aged 76, says family

0

Boxing heavyweight legend George Foreman has died aged 76.

Known as Big George in the ring, the American built one of the most remarkable and enduring careers in the sport, winning Olympic gold in 1968 and claiming the world heavyweight title twice, 21 years apart – the second making him the oldest champion in history aged 45.

He lost his first title to Muhammad Ali in their famous Rumble in the Jungle fight in 1974. But overall, he boasted an astonishing total of 76 wins including 68 knockouts, almost double that of Ali.

Foreman retired in 1997 but not before he agreed to put his name to a best-selling grill – a decision that went on to bring him fortunes that dwarfed his boxing earnings.

His family said in a post on Instagram on Friday night: “Our hearts are broken. A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.”

The statement added: “A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two-time heavyweight champion of the world, He was deeply respected – a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name – for his family.”

Tributes poured in from others across the sport, with former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson saying Foreman’s “contribution to boxing and beyond will never be forgotten”.

The Ring magazine, often dubbed the Bible of Boxing, described him as “one of the greatest heavyweights of all time”.

“[He] will be remembered as an icon of the sport forever.”

Foreman was born in Marshall, Texas, on 10 January 1949, and raised along with six siblings by a single mother in the segregated American South.

He dropped out of school and turned to street robberies before eventually finding his outlet in the ring.

George Foreman (left) and Muhammad Ali in the Rumble in the Jungle

Foreman won the heavyweight gold medal at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, aged 19, before turning pro and winning 37 consecutive matches. He lost only five bouts over his career.

He beat previously undefeated reigning champion Joe Frazier in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1973 knocking him down six times in the first two rounds.

His 1974 Rumble in the Jungle against Ali in Kinshasa, Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of the Congo, remains one of the most famous boxing matches ever.

Ali, the older man, was the underdog after he was stripped of his crown seven years earlier for refusing to be drafted into the Vietnam War.

Foreman reflected on the legendary fight 50 years later in an October interview with BBC World Service Newshour, explaining that everyone thought he was going to decimate Ali.

“Oh, he’s not going to last one round,” the boxer said experts were predicting at the time.

Foreman told the BBC he typically would get “real nervous” and have “butterflies” before any boxing match, but that night – it was the “most comfortable” he had felt.

But the wily Ali used a tactic that later became known as “rope-a-dope”, which wore out Foreman, causing him to throw out hundreds of punches before Ali unloaded on him in the eighth round and scored a knockout.

After a second professional loss, Foreman retired in 1977 and became an ordained minister at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Texas, which he founded and built.

He told the BBC his defeat to Ali became the “best thing that ever happened to me” as it ultimately led him to “get my message out” through preaching.

Foreman launches his grill in London, UK, in 2001

He recalled that his preaching started small, on street corners and with friends, then grew.

“We began meeting informally at various homes in Houston, and before long, the crowds became too large for most houses to accommodate,” Foreman said on his website.

“Eventually, we bought a piece of land and an old, dilapidated building on the north-east side of Houston.”

Foreman came out of retirement in 1987 to raise money for a youth centre he founded. He won 24 matches before losing to Evander Holyfield after 12 rounds in 1991.

In 1994, Foreman knocked out undefeated Michael Moorer to become the oldest-ever heavyweight champion at age 45.

He became an ad pitchman for his George Foreman Grill, which millions have purchased since it hit the market in 1994, thanks in part to his memorable catchphrase, the “Lean Mean Grilling Machine”.

Foreman was married five times. He has a dozen children, including five sons who are all named George.

He explained on his website that he named them after himself so, “they would always have something in common”.

“I say to them, ‘If one of us goes up, then we all go up together,” he explained. “And if one goes down, we all go down together!’”

Kofi Adoma’s ‘Blindness’ is Propaganda to Disgrace Dormaa After Our Successful Festival – Dormaahene Speaks

0

The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyeman Badu II, has described Kofi Adoma’s alleged ‘blindness’ as a propaganda ploy intended to harm the reputation of his kingdom.

Nana Agyeman Badu, speaking for the first time since Kofi Adoma got shot in the eye during his coverage of the 2024 Kwafie festival in Dormaa in December, said the entire incident is a ploy to bring disgrace to the Bono kingdom.

The High Court Justice, known in private life as Daniel Mensah, alleged that there is a plot to bring shame on Dormaa every single time they do something that brings glory to the Kingdom.

He claimed that during the Kwafie Festival, which was supposed to commemorate 25 years of his reign, a plan was hatched to bring out the Kofi Adoma story to overshadow the glory of the event.

Listen to the chief below…

Popular Ghanaian media personality, Kofi Adoma was shot in the eye in Dormaa while covering the Kwafie festival. Adoma has since undergone numerous procedures in a battle to restore his sight, but is currently in poor shape with only partial sight out of one eye.

In a press conference held just over a week ago, Adoma and his wife targeted the Dormaahene, lamenting his failure to show concern over his condition and failure to help them out in any way to cover the financial burden his blindness has thrust upon them.

Family Health University and Hospital mark World Oral Health Day with school children

0

As part of efforts to promote good oral hygiene, Family Health University (FHU) and Family Health Hospital (FHH) joined the global celebration of World Oral Health Day on Thursday, March 20th, with an impactful event at Wajir Central Kindergarten and Wajir Barracks ‘B’ Primary School (Class 1 to 4) in Teshie, Accra.

The event, held in collaboration with the Ledzokuku Municipal Education Directorate and supported by the Ghana Dental Association, aimed at raising awareness among school children about the important role of oral health in overall well-being.

The school children were taken through engaging educational sessions on oral hygiene, proper brushing techniques, cavity prevention, and the right foods and drinks to maintain strong and healthy teeth.

A dental nurse from Family Health Hospital advised the children on key oral care practices, including brushing twice daily for two minutes, using fluoride toothpaste, reducing sugary and acidic foods, replacing toothbrushes every three to four months, and visiting the dentist regularly for check-ups.

An anatomy lecturer at Family Health Medical School, Mrs. Akosua Boatemaa Ocansey, further enlightened the students on the parts of the teeth and their various functions, stressing the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene.

Representing the Municipal Education Director, Madam Rose Nkrumah, the Head of Human Resource Management and Development at the Ledzokuku Education Directorate expressed appreciation to FHU and FHH for the initiative. She emphasised the significance of joining hands with the world to celebrate World Oral Health Day and educate children on oral health.

Additionally, the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for Ledzokuku West Circuit, Aya Harrison encouraged the children to take pride in their bright smiles by practicing good oral hygiene, noting that healthy teeth boost confidence and self-esteem.

The event also featured free dental screenings for over 450 children, conducted by personnel from the Dental Unit of Family Health Hospital, with support from medical, nursing, and midwifery students from Family Health University.

This initiative forms part of the activities marking the official launch of Family Health University after receiving its Presidential Charter to operate as a full-fledged university.

The event was graced by several notable figures, including School Health Education Programme (SHEP) Coordinator, Madam Patience Adams-Brown; Early Childhood Education Coordinator, Madam Priscilla Apronti; and headteachers of Wajir Central KG and Wajir Barracks ‘B’ Primary and JHS, Madam Allice Patu and Madam Theodora Larbie. Teachers from both schools were also present to support the program.

Representing Family Health University and Family Health Hospital were Dr. Naa Adorkor Sodzi Tettey, Lecturer and Clinical Coordinator (FHU), and Mr. Edward Someah Addae, Head of Medical Records and Statistician (FHH).

Celebrated annually on March 20, World Oral Health Day raises awareness about the prevention and control of oral diseases. This year’s theme, “A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Mind,” highlights the connection between oral health and mental well-being, reinforcing the importance of good oral hygiene for a healthier life.

The successful event demonstrated the commitment of Family Health University and Family Health Hospital to community health education and engagement, further strengthening their role as advocates for improved healthcare and well-being.

You cannot elevate Fiapre to paramountcy – Dormaahene dares Otumfuo

0

Dormaahene Dr Agyemang Badu II (L) and Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II (R) Dormaahene Dr Agyemang Badu II (L) and Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II (R)

Dormaahene Osagyefo Dr Agyemang Badu has issued a daring challenge to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in response to the latter’s intentions of elevating the Fiapre Traditional Council to paramountcy.

According to the Dormaahene, he will abdicate the throne and renounce his title as the chief of the Dormaa Traditional Council if Otumfuo fulfills his promise to elevate the Fiapre Traditional Council to paramountcy.

“I challenge the Asantehene Otumfuo, as the Dormaahene and Bono president, that if he elevates the Fiapre stool to paramountcy, I will abdicate the throne given to me by the Bono people on that very day,” he said while addressing the media on March 21, 2025.

The traditional ruler expressed his strong disapproval of the Asantehene’s statement, emphasising that the authority to make such a significant decision rests in his hands, as the Fiapre council falls under his jurisdiction and authority.

He further questioned the Asantehene’s authority to make such a statement while he, the Dormaahene is still alive and serving as the chief.

“I am not trying to undermine anyone, but the power resides in my hands, bestowed upon me by the ancestors. How can you make such a pronouncement while I am still alive? As for that, Asantehene, you cannot do it. What authority do you have as a manhene [chief of Asanteman]?”.

He added, “When we speak of chiefs in Ghana, we speak of paramount chiefs. Paramountcy means there are no authorities above the paramount chief, and I have said that it will take a bold president to change the laws before such a move can be implemented. We will see if he can rule for even a week in this country.”

His remarks follow the Asantehene’s intention to elevate four divisional councils in the Bono and Ahafo Regions into paramountcy. The divisional councils in the Bono Region include Nkyeraa, Fiapre, Atronie, and Menye.

Speaking at the Asanteman Council meeting at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, March 17, 2025, Otumfuo hinted at his plans to honor these councils, stating that he has the sole authority to do so.

“Nkyeraa is mine, Menye is mine. No one other than myself can elevate them. They are all mine. I will elevate those councils in Bono and Ahafo this year. I will do it. No one else but I have the sole authority to elevate them,” he is quoted as saying by opemsuo.com.

In 2024, the Fiapre Traditional Council explained their decision to reunite with the Asanteman and seek the elevation of their chief to paramountcy, despite being located in the Bono Region.

According to the traditional authorities, the decision to join the Asanteman dates back to the tenure of their late chief, Nana Poku.

The traditional authorities explained that they had long sought to elevate their chieftaincy through the Bono House of Chiefs but were unsuccessful, prompting them to seek the intervention of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in the Asante Region.

How Black Stars players fared in 5-0 win over Chad

Players of the Black Stars pose for a picture before the game against Chad Players of the Black Stars pose for a picture before the game against Chad

The Black Stars continued their quest to secure a ticket to the 2026 World Cup with an emphatic 5-0 win against Chad on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The victory extended head coach Otto Addo’s unbeaten record in World Cup qualifiers to five and also put the Black Stars at the top of the table with 12 points, two ahead of second-placed Madagascar.

Overall, it was a brilliant team effort, with the players maintaining relentless intensity from the first whistle.

But who impressed the most?

Starting XI

Benjamin Asare – 6

He barely had anything to do throughout the game, but there was a moment where he fluffed his lines while coming for a corner kick.

Kingsley Schindler – 6

Set up Inaki Williams for the Black Stars’ second of the night with a brilliant cross. However, there were instances where Chad’s Mahamat Ali and Haroun Tchaouna put him under pressure. Against top opposition, it could have been a different outcome.

Alexander Djiku – 7

The 30-year-old played the entire game and helped the team record their first clean sheet in four matches. Even with the magnitude of the game, he looked so calm on the ball.

Mohammed Salisu – 7

He not only found the back of the net but also worked tirelessly to keep the Chad attackers at bay. His distribution was also brilliant on the night.

Gideon Mensah – 7

He lasted the entire game and ran riot down his left flank. He linked up decently with the attackers and also put in a shift defensively.

Thomas Partey – 8

Shielded the defence while also controlling proceedings in midfield. He’s had to deal with fans complaining about his commitment levels to the national team, but the Arsenal man relentlessly chased down every ball throughout the night.

He capped off his 50th Black Stars appearance with a dominant display.

Inaki Williams – 7

One of the four players to break their goal-scoring drought for the Black Stars in this game. The 30-year-old promised a goal, and he certainly delivered, scoring for the team for the first time since November 2023 when he scored against Madagascar.

Ernest Nuamah – 8

He had a two-goal contribution on the night. He set up Mohammed Salisu for Ghana’s fourth and then added the fifth 12 minutes later.

Antoine Semenyo – 8

The first Black Stars goal for the Bournemouth forward in almost two years. He showed glimpses of his potential on the night.

Mohammed Kudus – 7

Unfortunate not to score a goal. The midfielder spurned two good chances to add to Ghana’s tally and break his goal-scoring drought. His trickery, however, caused problems for Chad.

Jordan Ayew – 8

Captain on the night. He showed leadership, scoring and brilliantly assisting Ernest Nuamah for Ghana’s fifth.

Substitutes

Kamaldeen Sulemana – 5

Had some decent touches but failed to create any special moments.

Francis Abu – 5

Made some decent passes from midfield and looked composed.

Jerome Opoku – 5

Came on to put in a shift to shut the door on Chad.

Jerry Afriyie – 5

Missed a big chance to get his second goal in two games for the team.

Lawrence Agyekum – 5

Marshalled the midfield, but that was just it.

Kevin Taylor Responds to Samson Anyenini’s Call for His Arrest by Law Enforcement

0

In a strong response to lawyer and journalist Samson Lardy Anyenini’s call for his arrest, outspoken media figure Kevin Taylor dismissed the remarks as a personal grudge rather than a national issue.

In a video posted on his social media, Taylor minimized Anyenini’s importance, stating that he wouldn’t waste energy responding to him. Instead, he launched a harsh critique of Anyenini’s hosting of the popular news analysis show *Newsfile* on Joy News.

“Why should I respond to Samson Anyenini? He has a personal issue with me; it’s not a national issue, so I don’t want to waste my energy on him,” Taylor said.

He claimed that *Newsfile* has lost its appeal since Anyenini took over, criticizing his hosting style as uninspiring and disconnected from the discussions. Taylor argued that the show, once a flagship program for the Multimedia Group, has seen its viewership decline because of Anyenini’s perceived lack of dynamism.

“Since he took over Newsfile, the program is basically dead. There’s nothing exciting about the host; he’s flat, can’t engage in the conversation, and isn’t up to date on the issues,” Taylor stated.

He further alleged that the show’s declining appeal has led to a drop in advertisers, suggesting that Multimedia replace Anyenini with a younger, more engaging journalist who understands current affairs and can connect with viewers better.

“He’s not a television person. He’s not appealing. He should be sacked. If they’re not careful, the show will die,” Taylor added.

Taylor’s comments are part of an ongoing public feud between the two. Previously, Anyenini refuted Taylor’s allegations about his involvement in the controversial Agyapa deal, clarifying that his law firm had not done business with any government in Ghana since its inception in 2014.

The exchange has sparked debate on social media, with some supporting Taylor’s criticism and others defending Anyenini’s work as a journalist.

Adwoa Safo Is A Liar Destroying A Dead Woman’s Reputation, Why Didn’t She Speak When Madam Quashigah Was Alive? – Kevin Taylor

0

U.S.-based Ghanaian political commentator Kevin Taylor has attacked former Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, as a dangerous individual attempting to ride on a dead person’s reputation to gain political power.

Taylor, during a recent episode of his show, With All Due Respect, addressed recent claims by Safo that the former National Coordinator of the School Feeding Program, Madam Courage Quashigah, was corrupt.

Safo, who is currently on a media tour to set the record straight about her fractious relationship with her own party, the NPP, revealed during an interview that the former school feeding coordinator was massively corrupt.

Safo claimed that while the NPP government was in power, President Akufo-Addo tasked her with looking into rot within the school feeding program. She said while carrying out her investigation, Madam Quashigah approached her and offered her millions of cedis to drop the audit by creating ghost schools and students and fleecing the state.

While Safo has been hailed for exposing corruption within her own party, Kevin Taylor took a different tack, suggesting she’s merely undertaking a political power play.

According to him, Adwoa Safo is riding on a dead woman’s name to launder her own reputation. He said if the school feeding program was corrupt she should have spoken out while Madam Quashigah was alive so she would defend herself.

Taylor added that if Adwoa Safo is speaking the truth, she should produce some evidence such as the audit she carried out into the school feeding program that was shelved by Akufo-Addo.

Three times controversial politician lost legal battles against journalists

L-R: Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Kennedy Agyapong and Kweku Baako L-R: Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Kennedy Agyapong and Kweku Baako

The former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has once again attracted attention following his ongoing legal battle with investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Known for his controversial nature and outspoken stance, the politician and former lawmaker seems to have a long-standing feud with journalists in the country, marked by a history of legal conflicts with media figures.

However, records reveal a pattern of the politician losing legal battles against journalists, from Anas Aremeyaw Anas to Kevin Taylor.

Kweku Baako

In a defamation case, Kennedy Agyapong lost to Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, following a ruling by the Accra High Court in 2020.

The court ordered Kennedy Agyapong to retract and apologize three times on the platforms he used to defame Kweku Baako within 30 days, as well as pay damages amounting to GH¢25 million.

Kweku Baako stated that comments made by the politician on media platforms in 2018 had defamed him and harmed his reputation in the eyes of “right-thinking” members of society.

Kevin Taylor

In 2022, Kennedy Agyapong lost a defamation lawsuit against US-based journalist Kevin Taylor. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia dismissed the case, stating that the politician failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove that the statements made by Kevin Taylor about him were defamatory.

This was after the former MP filed a fifteen-page suit against Kevin Taylor and Loud Silence Media over what he described as a series of “false and defamatory statements in a series of videos and an email correspondence published by defendants via Facebook, YouTube, and other social media platforms about Plaintiff.”

His suit came after the defendant, Kevin Taylor and his organization (Loud Silence) had on several occasions referred to the plaintiff as a “murderer, drug dealer, and drug addict, thief, and green card fraudster”.

Additionally, Kennedy Agyapong’s demand for US$9.5 million in damages was not awarded to him.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas

Why NPP leaders ambushed Adwoa Safo at her home and stopped her from moving out

0

Adwoa Safo, Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Adwoa Safo, Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection

Details have emerged about how some senior members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) allegedly prevented Adwoa Safo, the former Member of Parliament for Dome/Kwabenya, from leaving her house for a scheduled radio interview.

Adwoa Safo has been on a media tour in recent days, engaging with several media stations to express her concerns about what she describes as prolonged unfair treatment. This comes despite her previous apology to the party and her constituency after facing family-related issues that led to her prolonged absence.

She was scheduled for an interview on Kessben TV/FM in Accra on the morning of Friday, March 21, 2025. However, listeners and viewers were left disappointed as they awaited the interview, which never took place.

As the delay continued, the host of the show, Kwame Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Mr. Speaker, was compelled to explain the situation to his audience.

“Adwoa Safo had gotten into her car and was about to leave her home for the interview. However, as she approached her gate, she was suddenly confronted by three Land Cruisers that blocked her path. Inside these vehicles were senior members of the NPP who insisted that she would not be allowed to leave for the interview. So, for those who were expecting to hear from Adwoa Safo, I regret to inform you that she has been ambushed in her own home by the leadership of the NPP,” the host stated.

Meanwhile, the NPP has referred Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee over her recent media comments regarding the party’s performance in the 2024 elections.

This action follows the NPP’s earlier directive cautioning party members against making public statements that could create divisions within the party.

In a statement issued on Thursday, March 20, 2025, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong stated that Adwoa Safo’s remarks defied party directives and undermined efforts to rebuild.

“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must refrain from discussing internal party issues in a manner that fosters unrest, negativity, and disaffection on media platforms. Her actions not only disregard this directive but also undermine the party’s rebuilding efforts.

“As a former Member of Parliament, former Deputy Majority Leader, and former Minister of State in the previous NPP administration, she was expected to set a good example by upholding the principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity that define our great party.

“Her failure to do so not only reflects poorly on her but also constitutes a breach of Article 3(5) of the Party’s constitution, which, among other things, mandates members to promote and defend the party’s good name.

“In light of this violation, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo is hereby referred to the National Disciplinary Committee of the party for further action.”
