Kennedy Nyarko Osei, Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, has refuted claims that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo used his authority to silence critics or political opponents.
According to Ghana Web on Thursday, March 20, 2025, He emphasized that the former leader upheld democratic principles, allowing free speech and open criticism.
According to Osei, despite accusations of tyranny, Akufo-Addo never unfairly wielded his powers against journalists or opponents.
“They say Akufo-Addo was a tyrant, but he never capriciously used his powers to suppress and intimidate his perceived opponents,” he stated in a Facebook post on March 20, 2025.
Expressing concern over recent developments, he warned that the country could face instability if government actions continue on their current trajectory.
He urged authorities to follow due legal processes instead of resorting to what he described as intimidation tactics.
Osei strongly condemned the recent raid on the home of former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison, as well as the arrests of other former government officials and activist Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah.
He assured that the Minority would resist any form of political oppression.
“The Minority will stand up to any intimidation and safeguard the constitution of this country,” he added, reaffirming their commitment to preventing a return to a culture of silence.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has assured the banking industry that the Mahama-led government has put in place sufficient financial safeguards to meet all commitments under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) for this year.
Dr. Forson reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to fiscal prudence and the restoration of trust in the financial sector.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, March 21, 2025, he disclosed that he had met with over 22 bank Managing Directors in a high-level discussion to reinforce the government’s commitment to fulfilling all DDEP obligations.
“We do not intend to default,” he declared during the meeting on March 20. “All outstanding holdouts have been paid, and we have put in place the necessary buffers to ensure that every single DDEP obligation for this year will be met,” he stated.
The Finance Minister also highlighted the government’s efforts to reduce reliance on Treasury bills by strengthening coordination between fiscal and monetary policies.
This approach, he explained, is designed to stabilize interest rates and ease liquidity pressures in the banking sector.
Dr. Forson assured banking executives that the government has taken valuable lessons from past financial challenges and remains committed to sound fiscal management.
“These actions are part of a broader strategy to ensure economic resilience and prevent a repeat of the financial instability of 2022.
“We have learned from the past. We are not going to be reckless. We have built the necessary buffers to meet our obligations, and we will work with you to ensure a stable and prosperous economy,” he concluded.

Economist and professor of finance at the University of Ghana, Professor Godfred Bopkin, has emphasised the need for the country to maintain long-term macroeconomic stability to achieve sustainable economic transformation and inclusive growth.
He said short-term economic policies disrupt stability, stressing that low inflation and low interest rates must be sustained over an extended period for effective planning and growth.
“We should be interested in maintaining macroeconomic stability for the long term. You need low inflation for a long. You need low interest rates for a long. If inflation is not low for long, you cannot plan for long,” he said.
Prof. Bopkin was speaking at the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry dialogue series which was held in Accra on Tuesday on the theme: “2025 National Budget Discourse: Implication for the Private Sector”.
Short-term stability
He stated that since 1992, the country had often achieved relative stability for short periods, typically two to three years before crises derailed the progress.
Prof. Bopkin stressed that macroeconomic stability should not be viewed as an achievement in itself but as a foundation for long-term economic transformation.
Drawing comparisons with countries like Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea, he pointed out that their success was built on consistent policies implemented over at least 15 years.
He urged policymakers to take a long-term approach to economic management, ensuring stability beyond short election cycles so that the country could move beyond the preparatory stage and achieve meaningful economic progress.
Spending and efficiency
The professor also addressed Ghana’s fiscal policy, noting that while the country had been able to generate and spend revenue relative to the size of its economy, the efficiency of spending remained a major challenge.
“Ghana has spent just like Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea. While these countries used their expenditure to create employment, quality infrastructure and economic growth, Ghana’s spending has resulted in inflation, poverty and environmental destruction,” he stated.
He emphasised the need for more efficient government spending, pointing out that in Ghana, infrastructure projects such as road construction often cost multiple times the global average due to inefficiencies and corruption.
He stressed that the country’s economic growth must be intentional, sustainable and people-centred.
“It is not enough to talk about GDP growth. We must measure how many people are being lifted out of poverty, how income inequality is being reduced and how our growth strategy is preserving the environment,” he said.
Opportunities
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GNCCI, Mark Badu-Aboagye, said businesses must identify opportunities in the 2025 budget and strategically position themselves to take advantage of them.
He said a clear example was the government’s commitment to procuring locally manufactured goods, which presented a significant opportunity for businesses. Another key opportunity, he said, lay in the infrastructural sector, where the government was expected to invest approximately GH¢1.5 billion.
“I see a lot of potentials, and as a chamber, we are committed to providing businesses with the necessary information to position themselves effectively and benefit from the provisions in the budget,” he said.

Some Eurobond investors impacted by the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) have taken steps to initiate legal action against some commercial banks in the country over the role they played in restructuring their bonds.
According to our sources lawyers representing some of the investors have officially written to the banks, to inform them of their intention to sue for losses incurred as a result of the restructuring and the subsequent hair cut on their investments.
The investors argued that they decided to invest based on the trust they had in the commercial banks. Some of the bondholders initiating the action did not sign up to participate in the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme.
Confirming the story on Joynews, Chief Executive of Ghana Association of Banks, John Awuah acknowledged the situation but described the action as surprising.
“We are indeed aware of the threat to sue, while some have also initiated the process of taking legal action against some of our members (banks)”
Mr Awuah however explained that the banks only acted as agents for the government for distribution purposes, of the Eurobond issuance and therefore finds the action very interesting.
“The bonds came with a clear prospectus which included collective action clauses”, he said.
He noted that the current regulations that cover the investments clearly state that the commercial banks cannot be held liable, when the principle (Government) fails to deliver or there is challenge.
Background
The government in September 2024 launched the Debt Exchange Programme for Eurobond holders to restrict papers worth 13 billion dollars by inviting bond holders to swap their old bonds for new ones.
The offer, which begun on September 5, 2024 saw bondholders having up until September 30, 2024 to fully accept the offer from government.
The investors, who subscribed before, September 20, 2024, will be eligible for a 1 per cent consent fee.
“The Eurobond exchange was designed with fairness in mind, reflecting agreements made with bondholder representatives on June 24, 2024.
The process involved two main investor options: the PAR Option, which had no nominal haircut but a lower interest rate of 1.5%, and the DISCO Option, which carried a 37% nominal haircut but offered higher interest rates between 5% and 6%”.
According to the government, Ghana was able to save about 5 billion dollars and 4.3 billion dollars in debt service.
A victim of the recent Adum Market fire in Kumasi has expressed frustration at the lack of firefighting resources in the country, specifically criticizing Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama. The unidentified market trader, who suffered significant financial losses due to the fire, called on Mahama to shift his focus from purchasing luxury items, such as private jets, to donating fire trucks to the Ghana National Fire Service.
In a video circulating on social media, the victim voiced his anger as he witnessed the Ghana National Fire Service struggling to control the flames. “Instead of buying private jets, invest in fire tenders for the Ghana National Fire Service,” the trader said, highlighting the country’s inadequate firefighting infrastructure.
The fire, which broke out early on March 21, 2025, destroyed over 100 shops in the Adum Market. Many traders, like the one in the video, lost their entire stock in the blaze. However, some critics have questioned why Mahama, a private citizen, was singled out for the criticism, especially since there is no clear connection between him and the fire incident.
The victim’s comments sparked mixed reactions on social media. Some netizens defended Mahama, asserting that as a businessman, he has the right to spend his wealth as he sees fit. Others criticized the young man for placing blame on Mahama instead of addressing broader systemic issues that led to the fire.
Despite the ongoing challenges, the tragedy has shone a light on the urgent need for better fire prevention resources across Ghana’s markets.
Accra, Mar. 21, GNA – Madam Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, Deputy Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, has called on all Ghanaians to join government and stakeholders to safeguard Ghana’s water resources.
She said the conservation of water resources was not the responsibility of just a few people but all citizens since water was a common resource.
Madam Tetteh-Agbotui made these remarks at the 2025 World Water Day Celebration in Accra organised by the Ministry together with the Ghana Water Limited and the Water Resources Commission.
The event held on the theme, “Water Conservation, Let’s Make It Our Way of Life” brought together stakeholders in the water sector to address issues centred on water conservation.
Madam Tetteh-Agbotui said this year’s theme should serve as a wake-up call and inspiration for all to intensify their commitment and awareness at reversing the deterioration of the country’s water bodies.
“Ghana’s policy response to conserve and safeguard our water resources for everyone and every sector of the economy is that of a shared responsibility of us all.”
“We should always bear in mind that we all as individuals have a crucial role in saving our water bodies, just like the popular saying, water source is made up of millions of tiny drops. Let us endeavour to make our efforts count,” she added.
Mr Adam Mutawakilu, Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, called for investments in innovation solutions, equitable distribution systems, and sustainable infrastructure to guarantee that every Ghanaian, regardless of their location or economic status, had access to clean and safe water.
“As we mark World Water Day 2025, let us reaffirm our commitment to water conservation and equitable access, ensuring that no one is left behind in our pursuit of a secure future,” he said.
Mr Mutawakilu said they were working to increase their potential capacity through the acquisition of new water treatment plants and upgrading existing facilities, by investing in modern technologies such as smart metres, leak detection, and pipeline rehabilitation to reduce water loss and improve efficiency.
He added that they were collaborating with the regulatory bodies and government agencies to enforce strict laws against illegal mining and industrial waste disposal into water bodies.
Dr. Bob Alfa, Acting Executive Secretary of the Water Resources Commission, said the public needed to know that water was not an infinite resource, saying, the future of Ghana’s water resources depends on the actions taken collectively.
“Our challenge is not only to conserve the remaining water resources but to restore the polluted water bodies to ensure equitable access for all,” he added.
Popular Ghanaian playwright and media personality, George Quaye, has pleaded with Ghanaians to avoid tagging young individuals going through hardship as lazy.
In a post on his Facebook page on March 20, 2025, Quaye explained that many young people are just in need of support and opportunity and are not as lazy as some people make them seem.
“Please don’t label all young people as lazy. You see, behind every struggling soul is a story you may not fully understand.
“Many are just searching for a hand to hold, a little support, or a single opportunity to rise to the next level,” he shared.
Quaye advised those in a helping position to not hesitate to help any young person who seeks their help, adding that it takes effort from some people to seek help.
“If God has placed you in a position where you can help—where you can be that bridge for someone—please don’t hold back. Asking for help is one of the most difficult things to do.
“It takes courage to silence the voices of guilt, shame, and self-doubt. It takes strength to admit, ‘I can’t do this alone.’ So, when someone finally gathers the courage to approach you, to trust you with their vulnerability, please don’t turn them away nor make them chase you endlessly,” he added.
He continued by stating that, “A little kindness, a little support, can change a life forever. Be the person who says, ‘I see you. I believe in you. I know you can do this. Here, this should get you somewhere.’ Because sometimes, all it takes is one person to make all the difference.”

Professor William Coffie is the head of Accounting department of the university of Ghana
The Head of the Accounting Department of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Professor William Coffie, has stressed the importance of a thoughtful and planned method to include informal businesses and individuals to pay taxes.
During a discussion on the 2025 budget, held by Lima Partners on Thursday, March 20, 2025, Prof. Coffie pointed out that formalizing the informal sector can be challenging as many people and businesses operate outside formal systems.
He therefore suggested using financial institutions to help small businesses comply with tax rules.
“With the proposal to establish the Women’s Development Bank, we can use this and other small medium, and micro firms to comply with tax payments.
“We always talk about formalising the tax sector so that many people will pay tax but I ask, how do you formalise a sector that is not formal in its operations? Every year, we talk about bringing in the informal sector but what do we do about it? We keep saying that but there is no effort.
Prof. Coffie suggested that financial institutions like microfinance organizations, the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), and the new Women’s Bank could help small businesses pay their taxes.
“We have a number of these microfinance institutions and agencies such as the GEA, MALOC, and now the Women’s Bank. Why don’t we use these avenues to encourage micro and small businesses to comply with the reporting and record-keeping of their taxes?” he quizzed.
He also called for a reward system for businesses in the informal sector who pay their taxes regularly, arguing that such an initiative will motivate the operatives in the sector to pay their taxes.
“If we (government) say that if a small business or a micro firm could produce their account for three years and continuously show that they are paying their taxes, we are going to support them with a micro-credit as a way to support them, I believe they will comply with their tax obligations”, he said.
Prof Coffie recommended creating a Tax Compliance Index to monitor and encourage tax compliance among small enterprises.
“We can have a Tax Compliance Index for these people. We have academics sitting there. You can ask them to do this to help implement some of these things. It can help with bringing in additional tax,” he concluded.
Sarah Adwoa Safo, former MP for Dome Kwabenya (L), woman purported to be Adwoa Safo (R)
Hopeson Adorye, a member of the Movement for Change, has suggested that the woman purported to be Sarah Adwoa Safo on the day Parliament voted to pass the E-Levy has obvious features that give her away as an impostor.
He made these allegations during a discussion on Onua TV’s Maakye on March 20, 2025, while exploring recent revelations made by Sarah Adoa Safo in a series of interviews.
“The footage of the woman in the nose mask revealed that she clearly has different features from Adwoa Safo. The body size could be justified on grounds that perhaps she had gained weight due to childbirth, but the forehead and neck clearly do not resemble Adwoa Safo and Bagbin must take decisive action to probe this matter to reach a sane conclusion,” he demanded.
Adorye, a former member of the NPP, indicated that the act was tantamount to fraud and insisted that heads must roll on the issue that implicates the then leadership of the NPP caucus in Parliament.
He advised Sarah Adwoa Safo to bite the bullet and reveal the truth behind the matter to absolve herself from any criminality.
“They should invite Adwoa and project the images of herself juxtaposed with the masked woman and allow her to point out which of the two pictures is her. She maintained her silence under duress, but she should open up now since the NPP is out of power. She should come out before any investigation proves otherwise,” he said.
He added that it is public knowledge that she was consistently present on social media platform, TikTok around the same period when the Parliament was preparing for the E-Levy voting.
He stressed that her claim that she did not vote on the E-Levy betrays her assertion that she was the same woman behind the mask on that day.
Hopeson Adorye demanded a thorough investigation stressing that Parliament can provide footages from as far back as 1992 to aid the process.
He stated that failure by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin to initiate an action on the matter would be a dent on his reputation.
“It is fair to say that, at the time it happened, the NDC was in opposition and it was quite difficult to press for a resolution on the matter. But now the NDC is in power and Bagbin has all the needed apparatus within his reach to launch a full-scale investigation in the matter,” he said.
The Black Stars of Ghana take on Chad in a must-win game at the Accra Sports Stadium on today, March 21, 2025, as they fight for a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
Having failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and with fans voicing their frustrations over poor performances, this match provides the four-time AFCON champions with a fresh chance to set things right.

Chad are also on an eight-game winless streak, having lost five and drawn three. They have no points in the group and currently sit at the bottom of the standings.
This will be the first time both teams meet in a competitive game.
Following Madagascar’s victory over the Central African Republic on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, and Mali’s victory over Comoros on Thursday, March 20, 2025, Ghana could go top of the group standings with a victory against Chad.

Ghanaian man of God, Prophet Nigel Gaisie has reportedly expressed joy over the recent verdict investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas won against Kennedy Agyapong.
Bishop Daniel Obinim, speaking during a sermon, revealed that he has received lots of calls from Nigel Gaisie in the aftermath of the verdict.
Agyapong, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and an NPP Presidential aspirant in 2024 was sued by the legendary Tiger Eye PI sleuth, who accused him of defamation.
The lawsuit, in New Jersey, was based on an interview Kennedy Agyapong granted a U.S.-based Ghanaian blogger, in which he disparaged Anas, calling him a liar, thief, murderer, blackmailer, etc.
Anas sued him for defamation and following a trial, was awarded $18 million in damages. The Assin Central legislator has petitioned for a reduction of the damages.
According to Obinim, following the verdict, Nigel Gaisie informed him that he continues to hold a grudge against Agyapong. The Net 2 TV owner for a while went on a crusade against Ghanaian pastors including Obinim and Gaisie, calling them fake and fraudulent.
Obinim claims Gaisie said no matter what Agyapong goes through, he will never forgive him for what he did.
President John Dramani Mahama has issued a strong warning to government appointees, prohibiting them from engaging in any form of mining, legal or illegal, with immediate effect.
Addressing a gathering at the launch of the ‘Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative’ in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality, the President made it clear that any official who wishes to mine must resign from government.
“I have directed that no government appointee at any level should engage in any form of legal or illegal mining. If you want to be a miner, leave government and go and be a miner,” he declared, receiving a thunderous applause from the audience.
Reaffirming his commitment to curbing illegal mining, President Mahama warned that any appointee found flouting this directive would face swift and severe sanctions, including dismissal from office. He also instructed security and regulatory agencies to intensify their crackdown on illegal mining activities, citing recent successes in reclaiming seven out of nine “no-go zone” forest reserves that had been under siege by illegal miners.
As part of these enforcement efforts, authorities have seized 55 excavators, three bulldozers, three pickup trucks, four pump-action rifles, and 11 motorbikes. The President described illegal mining as a national crisis that threatens the economy, public health, and livelihoods of Ghanaians.
“Farmers are losing their farmlands, rivers are turning brown and toxic with pollution, and entire communities are being affected,” he lamented.
The ‘Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative,’ which is one of President Mahama’s 120-day social contracts with Ghanaians, is being implemented by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. It aims to restore degraded lands, particularly those affected by illegal mining and deforestation, and forms part of the government’s broader environmental restoration efforts.
Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah highlighted the urgency of the initiative, emphasizing that Ghana’s forest cover was depleting at an alarming rate, posing severe ecological risks.
“This initiative envisions transforming heavily degraded areas into functional and vibrant ecosystems that support biodiversity and human livelihoods,” he stated.
The Minister further noted that the program would not only help reclaim damaged lands but also raise environmental awareness, promote tree planting, and enhance biodiversity through ecosystem restoration.

Ashanti Regional Commander of Prisons and Officer in charge of the Kumasi Central Prisons, Mr. James B. Mwinyelle, has bemoaned about overcrowding, inadequate nutrition and poor health of the inmates as some of the burdens facing the Prison Service.
According to him, the prisons facility, which was constructed in 1901 and expanded in 1935 to accommodate 500 inmates, now houses 1,563 inmates, and feeding this huge number of inmates, he disclosed, has become a huge burden on the authorities, who rely on a feeding grant of GH¢1.80 per inmate per day, to prepare food for them.
“The feeding of inmates is a major headache as the feeding grant is GH¢1.80 per inmate per day since around 2015. We rely on prison farms which sell to other non-farming stations, and we also rely on donations mainly from faith-based organisations,” he stated.
“As at now, we have 1,563 inmates, and this has a negative cascading effect. What we do is that we give them breakfast around 11:00am in the morning, and we give them lunch and supper together, so we serve them twice, and this is pathetic. Breakfast is basically koko (porridge), which we call it ‘Acasa’, and their lunch plus supper is banku and groundnut from the farming station basically,” he narrated.
Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) James B. Mwinyelle made these revelations during the Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) annual thanksgiving and get-together ceremony on March 7, 2025.
“To give rice to the inmates at Kumasi Central Prison, I need around 16 bags of rice before I can feed them, hence rice is served once a year, especially during Christmas festivities. So I have to accumulate rice organisations and individuals donated till end of year so I can give them rice,” he added.
“The protein intake is very low – beans cum groundnuts is too expensive for me to buy owing to the paltry sum of GH¢1.80, so the main food is koko (porridge) for breakfast and just banku daily – once in a week we struggle to give them gari,” DDP Mwinyelle added.
Ing. Mwinyelle called on the state to take a second look at the state of affairs in the country’s prisons and come up with urgent measures to address them.
He suggested that the feeding grant to inmates needed urgent review to reflect on the current cost of living and the prices of food items on the market.
He stressed the need to bring the prisons closer to society since the inmates were part of the society.
“I want to invite the media to visit the place. You have the platform and my aim is that, for the period that I will be in the Ashanti Region, the prison should be brought closer to society. The prison may be a security zone, but it is not a secret place. It is being maintained by the taxpayer, and people should know what we do and how we survive. We rely a lot on donations from society,” he added.
In a dramatic turn of events, former Ghanaian Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah has been arrested following new evidence in the ongoing investigation into the mysterious disappearance of over $1 million from her residence. The Office of the Special Prosecutor confirmed her detention early Thursday morning, citing fresh revelations about the source and handling of the massive cash stash.
New Evidence Uncovered
According to insiders close to the investigation, forensic audits uncovered additional unaccounted funds in offshore bank accounts linked to the former minister. This discovery has fueled speculations about the scale of hidden wealth among top government officials.
A spokesperson for the Special Prosecutor’s office revealed that the investigation has expanded beyond the initial theft by housekeepers, as suspicious financial transactions and property acquisitions in prime areas of Accra have come under scrutiny.
Public Outrage and Political Fallout
The arrest has sent shockwaves across the country, with Ghanaians demanding answers and tougher action against corruption. Social media platforms have exploded with heated debates, as many question how such large sums of money could be stored in a private home without official disclosure.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg,” said Kwame Asare, a leading anti-corruption advocate. “If a minister can keep over a million dollars in cash at home, what else is hidden from the people?”
Opposition leaders have called for a full-scale audit of current and former government officials’ finances, accusing the administration of enabling systemic corruption.
Minister’s Response
Through her legal team, Cecilia Dapaah has denied any wrongdoing, insisting that the funds were “lawfully acquired.” She claims the money came from personal savings and legitimate business activities. However, investigators remain skeptical as the newly discovered evidence suggests otherwise.
What’s Next?
Legal experts predict that the case could lead to Ghana’s biggest corruption trial in years, with potential asset seizures if the minister is found guilty. The Special Prosecutor’s office has vowed to pursue the case relentlessly and ensure that no one is above the law.

An Economist and lecturer at the University of Ghana, Prof. Patrick Assuming, says the government must redirect more funding to the real sector of the economy as the sector holds the key to economic recovery.
He explained that while the government is successfully raising funds through treasury bills, too much of this money is being absorbed by the government itself rather than being made available for businesses to borrow and invest.
This situation, he said, stifles private sector growth which is critical for sustainable economic development.
By redirecting funds towards these sectors, he said businesses in these areas will have access to capital to expand and grow, which in turn will boost overall economic activity.
Speaking in an interview, Prof. Asuming said, “we have to redirect more funding to the real sector. While it is positive that treasury bills are oversubscribed – if we are only mobilising funds and directing them to the government without channeling them to businesses, then we are not addressing the core issue.
It’s important to resolve the challenges facing the real sector, which have contributed to high Non-Performing Loans (NPLs). By doing so, financial institutions will be more inclined to start lending to the private sector,” Prof. Asuming said.
The real sector refers to the part of the economy that involves the production of goods and services such as manufacturing, agriculture and services, as opposed to the financial sector, which focuses on monetary transactions.
Limited investor confidence
He emphasised that although investor confidence was returning, it remained limited, saying “Although the treasury bills market is doing well with high demand, it does not reflect healthy business activity across the economy.
The high interest rate and limited access to credit for businesses are key factors preventing economic recovery.”
He further stressed the need for the government to support local businesses, particularly through government procurement and promoting made-in-Ghana products.
Old Mutual Financial Services Monitor
Presenting the report, the Group Head of Knowledge & Insights at the Old Mutual Ghana Vuyokazi Madude, explained that the key objective of the Old Mutual Financial Services Monitor was to provide a deep understanding of the working Ghanaian market, uncovering financial attitudes, perceptions, and behaviour in the informal and formal sectors.
She said aside from enhancing financial inclusion, the objective of the report was to support Old Mutual’s drive to champion the financial well-being of Ghanaians.
Key insights
The report revealed that income security remains the top priority for Ghanaians, followed by financially assisting others, getting the best investment returns and debt management.
Additionally, only 22% of Ghanaians are very confident in the economy as compared to the 17% recorded in 2023.
Also, 80% of respondents believe that their financial situation will improve in the next six months.
It indicated that borrowing has increased relatively to 2023, with many borrowing from trusted sources.
It added that 23% of the respondents (up from 11%) have a loan from family / friends, 15% have a loan from a Susu (up from 10%) while 13% have a loan from a financial institution 5% up from the 2023 figure.
Kevin Taylor has exposed the ‘real’ reason behind former Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo’s recent interviews ‘exposing’ rot within the NPP.
According to Kevin Taylor, Adwoa Safo in her interviews is simply trying to present herself as a ‘clean’ politician to Ghanaians who is not involved in corruption.
He claims that Safo’s plan is to be named as the running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2028 Presidential elections and she’s attempting to make that happen by cementing Bawumia and herself as incorruptible politicians in the minds of Ghanaians.
Taylor angrily asked Adwoa Safo why she did not speak up about the alleged corruption involving the former School feeding coordinator, Madam Quashigah, when she was alive. He claims she is destroying the dead woman’s reputation to elevate her own political fortunes.
Kevin Taylor warned Ghanaians not to be misled by Adwoa Safo because she is not as clean as she’s trying to portray herself.

Adwoa Safo has caused a stir in recent interviews, revealing bombshell allegations against the NPP and former President Akufo-Addo.
She claims Akufo-Addo asked her to audit the school feeding program and once she was done, he shelved her report. Safo also called for the NPP to stand behind Bawumia for the 2028 elections.
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has directed advertising companies to halt the erection of billboards within the median strips of roads, citing safety concerns.
According to the NRSA, billboards positioned on medians pose a significant hazard to road users, particularly pedestrians.
Speaking to Citi News, the Acting Director General of the NRSA, Abraham Amaliba, emphasized that the authority will enforce compliance with road safety standards to prevent such obstructions. He made this revelation after he toured the Underpass of the East Airport road in East Legon, Accra following a viral video of a pedestrian raising concerns about billboards on the median.
“People should remove those obstacles on the median because we are beginning to wage a war against such billboards. First and foremost, the height of the billboard does not provide clear visibility beyond it, and they are lined up in a way that makes it difficult to recognize an oncoming vehicle.
“Normally, the assemblies issue permits for these structures, so we will investigate who first erected these billboards.
“Luckily, their contact details are on them, so we will verify whether they have the necessary permits. If not, we will ask them to comply by removing the billboards because they pose a hazard to road users, especially pedestrians,” he stated.
The Minister of the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has issued a stern warning that any foreign national found engaging in illegal mining (galamsey) or fraudulent activities in Ghana will face immediate repatriation.
Speaking at the Regional Command Conference at the Police Headquarters on Friday, March 21, 2025, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s tough stance on illegal mining and financial fraud.
“The foreigners that we find in our forest, what do we do to them? Since I became the Minister of the Interior, we have returned over 107 citizens of other countries that we have found in fraud and in galamsey activities.
“I want to reiterate to the regional police commanders that any foreigner that we find in our forest, immediately call your colleagues from Immigration for them to be picked up. Because we have decided that any foreigner that we will find in our forest or involved in any fraud, our first option is to repatriate them to their countries, and we will not compromise on this,” he stated.
The Minister also announced new measures to track and penalize individuals who supply equipment for illegal mining.
He disclosed that he has directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to document and trace all machinery used for illegal mining operations by recording their chassis numbers.
“I have since written to the IGP that henceforth, any equipment that will be found either in our forest or our galamsey fight, the chassis number of that equipment should be forwarded to us, and then we will get the owner.
“So, if you are renting your bulldozer or other equipment to galamseyers, and you are staying at home, we will come and pick you up at home,” he warned.
The government has intensified efforts to curb illegal mining, which has led to severe environmental destruction, particularly in forest reserves and water bodies across the country.
Legendary Highlife musician, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, has criticised the current generation of Ghanaian musicians venturing into the genre.
He claims that they have abandoned the essential components of Highlife and are diluting it with foreign culture.
Speaking in an interview with Onua FM, Ambolley criticised the fact that the current generation of musicians have moved away from the true sound of Highlife.
“If you listen to the songs of Shatta Wale, Black Sherif, and others, their beats are all Western beats. There is no Highlife in there,” he stated.
Ambolley further emphasised that, Highlife music was defined by powerful storytelling, deep instrumentals, and meaningful life experiences, but today’s musicians lack the depth and maturity needed to create this type of music.
He also bemoaned how artistes today are just focused on singing about relationships and their girlfriends.
“The musicians of today just make music about their girlfriends because they haven’t grown. They haven’t faced life in a deep way to be motivated to make meaningful, resonating music,” he said.
According to him, the industry’s move away from the fundamentals of Highlife has left the genre struggling for identity.

The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has weighed in on the operation by National Security operatives at the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr Ernest Addison.
Addressing Parliament on March 21, 2025, Ayariga set the record straight, stating that what occurred at Dr Addison’s residence was a legally sanctioned search, not a raid as it has been described.
According to him, referring to it as a raid, especially in Parliament, is inappropriate when there is insufficient and well-informed information about what actually transpired.
“To correct the records, the committee clerk uses the word raid. It is not an appropriate expression of what happened. I think that law enforcement officers lawfully went there to conduct a search and it is perfectly lawful and so to use the word raid is clearly wrong,” he said.
The Bawku Central lawmaker cautioned the house about the choice of words and use of expressions in describing the incident at Dr Addison’s residence.
His comments follow a search at the residence of former Bank of Governor Dr Ernest Addison.
Dr Addison was at home in the early hours of Wednesday, March 19, when the heavily armed men, some in balaclavas, wielding AK-47 semi-automatic rifles, showed up to carry out a search.
Reports indicate that members of the team from National Security immediately disabled the CCTV system at the property.

A bold red lip is timeless, sophisticated, and undeniably powerful. It has the ability to transform a look instantly, making even the simplest outfit appear polished and intentional. However not all red lipsticks are created equal, and finding the right shade for your skin tone can be the difference between a striking statement and a shade that feels out of place. The right red should complement your complexion, enhance your natural beauty, and work seamlessly with the rest of your makeup and outfit.
Choosing the right red for your skin tone
The key to finding your perfect red lipstick starts with understanding your undertones. Skin can have warm, cool, or neutral undertones, and different reds will either complement or clash depending on where you fall on the spectrum.
For those with cool undertones, blue-based reds are the most flattering. Shades with a hint of berry or cherry add richness and depth without overwhelming the complexion. Think classic Hollywood glamour—crisp, cool-toned reds that make teeth appear whiter and skin look brighter.
If you have warm undertones, reds with orange or golden hues will complement your natural warmth. Brick reds, corals, and fiery tones bring out the golden tones in your skin, creating a harmonious and radiant effect.
For neutral undertones, there’s more flexibility. Both blue-based and orange-based reds can work, though the most universally flattering option tends to be a true red—a balanced shade that doesn’t lean too cool or too warm. These classic reds offer a bold yet wearable effect that suits a variety of skin tones.
Deeper skin tones can play with intense, rich reds, from deep crimsons to wine and oxblood shades, while fairer complexions often find vibrant reds more striking. The best way to find your ideal red is to test different shades against your skin in natural lighting, ensuring it enhances rather than washes you out.

Pairing your red lipstick with the rest of your makeup
A red lip is the centrepiece of any look, so keeping the rest of your makeup balanced is key. The classic approach is a minimal, polished face that allows the lips to take centre stage. Fresh, glowing skin with a light touch of blush prevents the complexion from looking too stark against a bold red. A touch of mascara and soft eyeliner can define the eyes without overpowering the lips.
For a vintage-inspired look, a sleek cat-eye pair effortlessly with a red lip, creating a striking yet timeless aesthetic. If you’re aiming for a more modern approach, opt for soft, neutral eyeshadows and subtly defined brows to keep the focus on the lips.
For evening events, a red lip can be paired with a bit more drama. A softly smudged smoky eye in warm brown or bronze tones adds depth without competing with the lips, while a subtle highlight on the high points of the face enhances the overall glow. The key is to avoid overpowering the lips—balance is everything.
Styling your red lipstick with your outfit
The right red lipstick can elevate any outfit, whether it’s casual or formal. For a classic and effortlessly chic look, pairing red lips with an all-black outfit creates a striking contrast. A simple white blouse or tailored blazer allows the lips to become the focal point, adding an air of sophistication.
If you’re looking to embrace colour, red can be surprisingly versatile. Wearing red lipstick with a monochromatic red outfit creates a bold, fashion-forward statement. If that feels too daring, try pairing your red lip with complementary tones like deep burgundy, camel, or navy.
Jewellery and accessories should also be considered. Silver tones tend to enhance blue-based reds, while gold jewellery pairs beautifully with warmer red shades. The same principle applies to nails—coordinating your red lipstick with a matching red manicure can create a polished, put-together effect.
Finding confidence in your signature red
Wearing red lipstick is as much about confidence as it is about finding the right shade. While the perfect red exists for everyone, the real secret is wearing it with conviction. Whether you’re opting for a subtle matte finish or a glossy, high-shine look, embracing a red lip is about making a statement and owning it.
Once you find your signature shade, it becomes a beauty staple that can take you from casual daytime elegance to evening glamour with just a swipe. Red lipstick is more than just makeup—it’s a statement of self-assurance, individuality, and timeless style.
Staff and management of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) have hoisted red banners in protest against what they describe as political appointments to their Corporate Communications Office in Tamale.
The protest follows reports of the appointment of two NDC communication officers to occupy key positions within the corporate communications offices of VRA and NEDCo, a move that has sparked widespread opposition among staff.
The leadership of the Volta River Authority (VRA) and NEDCo Staff Groups has strongly rejected the alleged appointments, warning that they could compromise professionalism and operational integrity within the institutions.
Speaking to Citi News on Friday March 21, William K. Asare, Chairman of the Senior Staff Association-NEDCo, described the move as a recipe for disaster and called for a reversal of the decision.
“Never in our history has an appointment for managerial position being filled from the office of the president…If this is allowed to stand tomorrow we will wake up and somebody holds a letter from the office of the president purporting to manage transport…We are telling the appointing authority that that is not he way to go.
“…We are giving the minister a notice by next week, if we don’t get a favourable response we will speak the language that politicians understand. We will advise ourselves.”

Ghana’s journey toward redemption begins on Friday in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars find themselves in troubled waters – winless in their last six matches – a dismal run that saw them miss out on a place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
With mounting pressure, Coach Otto Addo is racing against time to turn Ghana’s fortunes around.
The support from the Ghana Football Association, Parliament, and Ghana President John Mahama has been unwavering, but now, the results must follow.
However, securing victory may not be straightforward, as Chad arrive with players capable of tormenting the Black Stars.
Despite their poor form, just three wins in six years, the visitors possess dangerous weapons that could punish any lapse in Ghana’s defense.
Mahamat Thiam
The defensive midfielder has established himself as one of the best in the Georgian football division for Kolkheti 1913.
He is a regular in the Chad national team setup, having made his debut a year ago.
The 23-year-old’s ability to maneuver with the ball in tight spaces and his vision in finding teammates making incursions make him a vital cog in the team.
If Thiam dictates the tempo, Chad’s chances of causing an upset will skyrocket and Ghana must find a way to neutralise him.
Youssouf Abderamane
Youssouf Abdraman primarily plays as an attacking midfielder or a striker.
The 20-year-old came on as a substitute in a match against Sierra Leone in November during the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers, which ended in a 1-1 draw, and impressed many with his composure, work rate, and performance on and off the ball.
Despite Chad losing 4-0 against Côte d’Ivoire on November 19, 2024, Abdraman was one of the best players on the pitch, receiving a Sofascore rating of 6.7.
A weapon Chad could rely on.
Abakar Goukoui
He is a forward who plays for TP Elect Sport in Chad, and his inclusion in the national squad speaks volume of his offensive capabilities.
Goukoui is expected to be a key player in Chad’s attacking strategy, by aiming to challenge opposing defenses with his goal-scoring prowess.
He can pose several threats to Ghana’s defense with his strong physical presence, which allows him to hold off defenders and compete in aerial duels, making him a target man for crosses and long balls.
The Chadian is also capable of making quick runs behind defensive lines, exploiting gaps left by Ghana’s full-backs or center-backs if they push too high up the pitch.
Though Chad is considered an underdog, players like Goukoui will be eager to prove themselves by causing the Black Stars problems.

Nana Obiri Boahen, a former Deputy General Secretary of the NPP
Nana Obiri Boahen, a former Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, has declared his full support for Sarah Adwoa Safo over her recent outbursts about what she described as unfair treatments meted out to her by the New Patriotic Party, (NPP).
“Adwoa Safo did nothing wrong. I will stand by Adwoa Safo against Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP on this matter. Most of the things she said were factual. Instead of calling her privately to calm her down and explore ways to patch up, the party issues a public statement and follows it with a query for her,” he said on Okay FM on March 21, 2025.
Obiri Boahen indicated that the explosive interviews by the former MP for Dome-Kwabenya on selected media platforms uncovered many secrets needed to diagnose the problem that caused the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 Election.
He stated that he was hearing for the first time through Adwoa Safo’s media discourses that some NPP MPs petitioned against Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye as the candidate to contest Alban Bagbin for the speakership position in Parliament.
“Do you know that this is the first time I’m hearing that some MPs petitioned against Aaron Mike Oquaye contesting for the speakership position?
“If she hadn’t come out to say it in her recent interviews, we would all have been kept in the dark. Is this how you rebuild a party?” he asked rhetorically.
He questioned the credibility of the former Speaker of Parliament and demanded why they would allow him to chair the 11-member committee set up to investigate the 2024 electoral defeat, given the opposition from some legislators in the party.
He stated that the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration sidelined experienced party members who were ready and willing to help the party stay in power.
“Do you know that I was never called for any major communication meeting during the campaign season? I can swear that I didn’t even know where the national campaign office was. I remember only visiting Bawumia’s campaign office about twice or so. But nobody called me to make inputs during the electioneering season. So, I also sat in my corner and minded my business,” he said.
Asked if he was unfazed by a query from the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee for boldly declaring these facts, he stated that he could not be tamed for pointing out weaknesses in the party that led to their abysmal performance in the 2024 Election.
“It takes a few courageous people like myself and Adwoa Safo to come out to point out the wrongs. The party does not feed me. I feed myself, so they can’t gag me,” he said.

Kelvyn Boy has apologised to the organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) following some ‘distasteful’ comments he posted about the omission of Kojo Blak’s “Excellent” from the nominations list.
The controversy began when fans on social media questioned why the song “Excellent” by Kojo Black and Kelvyn Boy was not included in the nominations.
In response, Kelvyn Boy took to Twitter to rant, accusing Charterhouse of what he described as their habit of engaging in actions that often put them in the negative spotlight during the VGMA season.
“Charterhouse is a bad b**ch. She always wants to be talked about,” he tweeted.
Addressing the controversy, Robert Klah, Head of Communications at Charterhouse, explained on Hitz FM that “Excellent” was excluded because it was released late in the year under review.
He noted that including the song would have been unfair, as it gained significant traction mainly in 2025, which fell outside the eligibility period for the awards.
Kelvyn Boy, having learned this, apologised for his rants.
“Perhaps the song will be considered for the following year, as the artiste who submitted the song was expecting a nomination. I think we’re good now, and I want to use this opportunity to offer a very big apology to my boss Robert and Charterhouse,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the 2025 TGMAs is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2025, at the Grand Arena, Accra.
The event will be preceded by a pre-party on May 2, bringing together nominees and industry stakeholders for networking and discussions.
Also, there will be a nominees’ jam, also known as the TGMA Xperience, on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

New office block handed over to the Ghana Armed Forces Pay Regiment
Mobus Properties Limited has handed over a newly constructed office block to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Pay Regiment at Burma Camp, Accra.
The facility, designed to improve efficiency in financial management for military personnel, marks a significant step in enhancing administrative operations within the regiment.
The ceremony brought together high-ranking military officers, officials from Mobus Properties, and other dignitaries.
In his remarks, the special guest of the occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Ababio Serebour (Rtd), expressed appreciation for the new infrastructure being named after him.
He emphasised the block’s role in creating a more conducive environment for the regiment’s staff.
“I will be humbled by the gesture by the Commanding Officer to name this edifice in my honour. Today marks a significant milestone not only in my life but also in the history of our great course. I am reminded that this honour is not just mine alone. It represents the quality, spirit of service, sacrifice, and resilience that define the forces they call the Ghana Armed Forces,” he said.
He further charged the Pay Regiment to utilise the opportunity to foster cooperation between the regiment and its client.
“The Remittance Group is the hub that interfaces the relationship between forces being regulated in the corporate world. What we see today will go a long way to deepen the existing relationship and foster cooperation between the regiment and its corporate partners. This building will serve as a constant reminder of our common goal to always achieve excellence and deliver on our mandates,” he added.
For his part, the CEO of Mobus Properties, Kojo Ansah Mensah, stated that the project aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting national institutions through infrastructure development, citing the new block as a testament to the partnership.
“This building symbolises more than Corporate Social Responsibility; it’s a testament to partnership. For over a decade, Mobus has developed award-winning residential, commercial, and industrial spaces across West Africa. Renovating this office required meticulous planning, just like our various developments. We upgraded infrastructure, optimised layout proficiency, and incorporated sustainable practices to ensure this facility serves you for many years,” he stated.
With the new office block now operational, personnel of the Pay Regiment are expected to experience improved workflow, enhanced efficiency, and better service delivery to the Armed Forces.
This development reflects ongoing efforts to modernise key military support services, ensuring they meet contemporary standards.

Zimbabwe’s sports minister, Kirsty Coventry, was elected as the 100th President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on March 20, 2025.
She won the election in the first round after reaching the absolute majority (50+ one vote) mark, defeating her competitors to become the first woman and African to occupy the position.
The 41-year-old will officially take up the role on June 24, 2025, from the incumbent president, Thomas Bach, who has been in charge of the role for the past 12 years.

“This is not just a huge honour, it’s also a reminder of my commitment to every single one of you that I will lead this organization with pride, upholding the values at its core, and making all of you very proud and confident in the decision you’ve taken today,” she said.
Coventry will assume the role at a time of heightened geopolitical uncertainty worldwide, with questions surrounding the direction of the Olympic movement in the 21st century and increased scrutiny of issues related to gender identity and equality.
The role is expected to bolster African representation during Olympic Games and invest in sports development in the country.

Kumasi March 21, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama, has stressed urgent need to take a critical look at how the country’s markets are planned.
“It is time for Ghana to start rethink about how to plan our markets to prevent the reoccurrence of fires”, he stated, during a visit to the devastating fire disaster scene at Adum, the central business district of Kumasi.
He described the situation as very sad, looking at the extent of damage caused by the fire, which started early morning on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Three major storey-buildings, which contain many stores, hundreds of container shops, stalls and table-top shops, with merchandize goods running into millions of Ghana cedis were
destroyed during devastating fire, which occurred between the Hello FM and the Kumasi Central market.
No casualty was recorded, but two people, including a fire officer, were said to have been injured in the incident.
Lack of access road to the enclave between Hello FM and the Kumasi central market impeded efforts by fire fighters to control the blaze on time.
President John Dramani Mahama thanked officers of the Ghana National Fire Service for the prompt response, which managed to control the fire from spreading beyond the enclave.
According to him, information he received from the fire officers indicated that lack of access contributed to the inability of fire tenders to dose off the fire on time.
He extended sympathies to the affected traders and said he had asked NADMO, the Regional Coordinating Council and other relief agencies, to offer support to the affected traders, while efforts were made to rebuild the market.
The Administrator of the Common Fund nominee, Michael Harry Yanson, says the reserve fund plays a crucial role in addressing unforeseen crises and supporting local government initiatives.
He outlined the fund’s primary purposes, emphasizing its importance in responding to emergencies, funding capacity building, and facilitating local investments.
Answering questions during his vetting, Mr. Yanson explained that the reserve fund acts as a contingency resource, enabling the government to respond quickly to unexpected events such as natural disasters or health emergencies.
Citing examples like the tidal waves in the Volta Region and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, he highlighted how the Fund has been instrumental in providing critical support to the District Assemblies during such times.
“The reserve Fund serves the purpose of holding funds to support any districts that find themselves in situations requiring resources beyond their capabilities,” Mr. Yanson said.
Additionally, he pointed out that the fund is used for training and capacity building.
According to him, as local governments are entrusted with ever-larger portions of the national budget, it is essential that district offices are equipped to handle these responsibilities.
The reserve fund, Mr. Yanson noted, helps finance such training programmes.
He noted that the reserve fund is also used to support local investments that may be beyond the financial reach of district assemblies.
He said this ensures that essential infrastructure projects and initiatives can be executed, even when local budgets fall short.
Addressing concerns raised about conflicts between Members of Parliament (MPs) and District Chief Executives (DCEs), Mr. Yanson acknowledged that such disputes can occasionally arise, particularly when MPs from opposition parties face difficulties in accessing funds or getting approval for projects.
The nominee committed to resolving these issues by working closely with local government leadership and fostering cooperation between MPs and DCEs.
He emphasised the importance of ensuring that funds are disbursed in a timely manner, as the ultimate goal is to ensure that money translates into development.
“We will work to bring all parties together, seek advice from leadership, and resolve conflicts swiftly,” Mr. Yanson said.
He also hinted at the possibility of establishing alternative channels for project approval, especially when DCEs refuse to sign off on projects, ensuring that local development continues unhindered.
Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu Agyemang, has strongly criticized former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo, over her public remarks against party leaders.
Speaking on the growing tensions within the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, he made it clear that her actions were unacceptable and that she would face disciplinary action.
The Black Stars of Ghana will be looking to bounce back from their embarrassing African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign when they face lowly Chad in Accra on Friday 21st March 2025.
Chad who are ranked 176 out of 210 in the FIFA world rankings is Africa’s sixth worst team ahead of Somalia, Seychelles, Djibouti, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Mauritius.
This should be an easy win for the Black Stars and allow them to restore some goodwill and confidence after the failure to qualify for the next AFCON, but questions still linger over Otto Addo’s ability to lead the Black Stars to North America next summer for the 2026 World Cup.
The Black Stars’ AFCON qualifying debacle was a harrowing experience for Ghanaians. Ghana managed to score 3 goals across six games and conceded seven goals and registering three draws and three defeats.
World Cup qualifying has gone much better with three wins from four games with seven goals scored but five conceded. This hints at a defensive fragility which needs to be addressed.

Otto Addo’s side have kept just one clean sheet in the last year and that was against a Sudan team that were very happy to get a point in Accra. This inability to keep goals out has exacerbated the attacking issues I will touch upon soon.
Addo may have a reasonable excuse. He has been unable to call upon his seemingly first-choice backline of Alexander Djiku and Mohammed Salisu only thrice in the last year. Incidentally, this was the only combination that managed to keep a clean sheet.

Another issue is the change from a back four to a back three or back five that Addo regularly employs. For the most part, it has failed as a gambit as the side have failed to keep clean sheets in any of the games that Addo has used the back three in the last year.
The defence needs to be much better especially since the attack is tragic. Ghana have conceded 12 goals in their last 10 qualifiers (World Cup and AFCON). This is nowhere near good enough the attack has not been good enough to compensate.

Goal scoring has been a struggle for this side. In the last 10 qualifiers, Ghana has scored 10 goals, two fewer than they have conceded and the only player with more than a goal is Jordan Ayew. Considering that in club competitions with Leicester City he might be the least potent attacker, is a concerning situation.

Otto Addo’s inability to get the best out of our attackers is one of his greatest failures. This season, Inaki Williams has 10 goals and nine assists, Ernest Nuamah has six goals and two assists, and Antoine Semenyo has nine goals and five assists, they are regularly contributing at club level but have two goals between them in the last 10 qualifiers.
This is concerning and hints at a need to change our attacking structure as we are not getting the best out of these talented attackers.

Despite this, Ghana should be able to beat Chad. Excluding two wins in their last 12 games with both coming against Mauritius, Les Sao have scored two goals and conceded 17 in the other 10 games losing seven of them in the process.

Chad will be without their record appearance maker and goal scorer Ezechiel N’Douassel who is no longer part of the national team set-up despite still being active meaning the task is made more difficult than it already is.

The road to 2026 continues on Friday and Les Sao offer an easy chance at improvement for a Ghana side that has been underperforming so far. If Otto Addo cannot manage a convincing win here his time as Black Stars coach should be coming to an end sooner rather than later.

Dr. Braimah Baba Abubakari addressing participants at the 2024 Annual Sector Performance Review Meeting in Nalerigu
Dr. Braimah Baba Abubakari, the North East Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has expressed worry over the continuous shutdown of health facilities in the region due to conflict situations.
“Several health facilities in the region had to be shut down for several months due to conflicts in those communities,” he disclosed.
According to him, the shutdown of these facilities negatively impacts health delivery in the affected areas in the region.
Addressing participants at the 2024 Annual Sector Performance Review Meeting, Dr. Abubakari revealed that Wenchiki Health Centre in the Chereponi District, Gbegbani CHPS in the Yunyoo District, and Bimbangu and Ngaama CHPS in the Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri District were all shutdown due to conflict-related issues.
However, the Wenchiki Health Centre in the Chereponi District, Gbegbani CHPS in the Yunyoo District have since been reopened while Bimbangu and Ngaama CHPS in the Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri District are still closed due to the conflict in the areas.
He appealed to the North East Regional Security Council to ensure that there is peace in the region, to enhance healthcare delivery.
The North East Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service also called on chiefs and opinion leaders in the region to resolve their disagreements peacefully to ensure that more professional workers continue to stay in their various communities and deliver healthcare services to their people.
Former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has revealed that her own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), demolished the site of a transport company her father owned in Accra.
Speaking in an interview on Okay 101.7Fm in Accra, she revealed that her father, Apostle Ing Dr Kwadwo Safo, head of the Kristo Asafo church, owned a transport company known as Imperial Express with its premises located near Agbogbloshie in Central Accra.
Safo said the land the company’s premises was located on was government land which had been leased to her father’s company.
She said that during the period she appeared to be having some issues with other members of her own party, she and her father woke up one day to discover that the transport company premises had been demolished by a governmental task force.
Safo said they received no notice of the demolition, meaning they could not even evacuate their valuables such as vehicles from the place. They simply heard it had been demolished.
The former Gender Minister revealed she kept all these trials and tribulations against her and her father under wraps but feels now is the right time to reveal everything.
Accra, March 20, GNA – The government will procure sanitary pads locally for free distribution to schoolgirls nationwide to tackle menstrual poverty and support Ghanaian businesses.
Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Trade, Industry and Agribusiness, announced this during a courtesy call by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI).
She said the government, under the 2024 budget, allocated GHS292.4 million for the initiative, which would benefit 1.3 million female students in basic and secondary schools.
The initiative aims to address menstrual hygiene challenges, reduce absenteeism, and promote import substitution.
The AGI appealed to the minister to create a support system for local manufacturers to meet the demand and limit imports.
Madam Ofosu-Adjare revealed that all sanitary pads for free distribution would be sourced from Ghanaian manufacturers.
“Even though that was not added [to the budget], I met with all pad manufacturing companies two days ago, and they have been informed that all the free sanitary pads will be sourced from Ghana,” she said.
The minister urged local businesses operating at 20-30 per cent capacity to increase production, citing plans to improve import substitution and promote exports.
“So, even before we amend the Public Procurement Act (PPA) to give made in Ghana goods the opportunity, we are already doing it, making sure that government will buy stuff that are made in Ghana to improve import substitution and to encourage exports,” said, Mad Ofosu-Adjare.
Sanitary pads currently attract a 12.5% VAT and 20% import tax, making them costly for many, especially rural residents.
Advocacy groups have repeatedly called for tax exemptions, arguing that menstruation is a natural and essential process for women.
In 2023, the government provided zero-rated VAT on locally produced sanitary pads and import duty waivers for raw materials used in their production.
