Court Cases Will Not Stop May 29 Presidential Handover To Tinubu — Federal Government

According to the Federal Government, legal disputes won’t halt the transfer of power from President Muhammadu Buhari to the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The President and Vice-President elect’s offices have been fully renovated, according to Boss Mustapha, the chairman of the Transition Committee, who made this announcement.

This statement was made by Mustapha on Tuesday while speaking to journalists in Abuja.

In his words, “The committee has been active and the refurbishment of offices for the President and Vice-President elect has been completed”.

He continued by saying that the Defense House facility was ready. The President and Vice-President-elect have also been assigned security officers from the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS).

The protocol officers from the National Intelligence Agency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs have also been assigned to the President-elect and Vice-President-elect, he added.

According to Boss Mustapha, “The transition process is on course and all efforts are being made to ensure that it is smooth. On May 29, there would be a peaceful formal transfer of power to the new President”.

Mustapha pointed out that the security subcommittee was in charge of making sure the handover wasn’t interrupted.

He said, “All litigation, whether resolved or not, will not in any way stop the process. The President is not spending a day extra in office. The security committee has the responsibility to ensure that nothing happens to truncate the transition process. Nigerians are very law-abiding people.”

He emphasized that, for anyone who lost an election, there are ways set up for them to pursue any legal inquiries they desire, but the process would go on as usual. Not another constitutional crisis, please. The handover will occur on May 29.

He clarified that, regardless of who lost an election, there are ways available for those individuals to pursue any legal inquiries they desire, but the process will go as usual.

“We would not create another constitutional crisis. On May 29, the hand-over will take place,” he said.

As part of the transition, Mustapha added that the FG delegation to the World Bank’s Spring conference would include four members of the President-elect’s staff.

Nonetheless, he disclosed that the president-elect had nominated Wale Edun and Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu to the transition committee.
