2023: ‘ Close down universities, let students collect their PVCs ‘, NANS urges FG

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has summoned the Federal government to declare a short vacation in universities across the country so as to allow students obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) ahead of the forthcoming 2023 elections.

This was recently made known by Comrade Akintoye Afeez, the Vice President of NANS while emphasizing that Federal government fails to take such action, over Four Million (4,000,000) students would not have the privilege to exercise their voting rights.

In brief, he said: ” We call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to immediately close all tertiary institutions temporarily to afford students the opportunity to collect their PVCs from their Local Government Areas and vote in the forthcoming elections. In time past, the lack of flexibility of INEC and the management of tertiary institutions had made it difficult and almost impossible for students to participate in the electoral process”.
