SA to Governor Ayade on Strategic Communications, Andrea Ekeng Inyang, has shared a story of how he met and tied the knot with his wife, despite the series of backlashes he received from people.
The young SA is of the opinion that a couple does not need to remain in a relationship for a long period of time, before settling down for marriage. He went ahead to use his relationship as a case study.
He claimed that he and his wife were mere Facebook friends and had never engaged in any lengthy conversation. It was when a friend brought her along for a visit at his office, that he decided to make his move on her. She was working and residing in Abuja at the time but that didn’t deter him from pursuing a relationship with her.
After several months of severe pressure from him, she finally gave in. Two months later, he proposed to her and she accepted. According to him, many people mocked him and called him a joker, insisting that he should’ve given the relationship a couple of years before proposing. He revealed that some even accused him of looking for social media attention.
After another two months, he went to see her parents alongside his father and a team of other family delegations. By November, he went ahead with the traditional marriage.
His advice for young people who are still searching for future partners is that, “A marriage that will happen, does not need the excuse of many years in courtship.”
