Elon Musk Says He Would Reverse Donald Trump’s Permanent Twitter Ban Despite Trump Saying He Would Not Return

During a recent interview, Elon Musk confirmed that once his $44 billion-dollar Twitter buyout goes through, he will officially reverse the permanent Twitter ban of Donald Trump, even though Trump previously stated that he will not return to the platform. Elon Musk also went on to state that the act of banning Trump was “foolish in the extreme” and “morally bad.”

Speaking virtually during an auto conference with the Financial Time, Elon Musk definitely didn’t hold back on his belief (and future plan) to restore the Twitter privileges of disgraced former president Donald Trump—which he also revealed were shared by Twitter founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey.

“Permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots, or scam, spam accounts … I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump. I think that was a mistake, because it alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice,” Elon Musk said.

As we previously reported, late last month while speaking with FOX News following the confirmation that Elon Musk was officially the new owner of Twitter, Donald Trump assured his fanbase that despite the new ownership he will not be returning—choosing instead to use his own Truth Social platform that was launched back in February.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on Truth,” he said, before adding that he thinks that Elon Musk will likely “make improvements” to Twitter and stated that [Musk is] a “good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth.”
