(ACP) Kofi Sarpong

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kofi Sarpong, a well-known gospel musician, has firmly denied ever engaging in bribery during his years of service with the Ghana Police Service.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on Monday, ACP Kofi Sarpong addressed a question from a listener who asked whether he had ever accepted a bribe, either in his capacity as a senior police officer or in his music career. The gospel artiste responded light-heartedly but emphatically, stating that he has never taken a bribe at any point in his professional life.

“Not at all… never,” he said.

He further explained that he has neither been offered nor pressured to accept a bribe, adding that integrity has remained central to his work in law enforcement.

The “Ohaw Ne Obre” singer also reflected on balancing his dual roles as a police officer and a musician. According to him, future promotions within the police service may influence how frequently he releases music, largely depending on the demands of his official duties. However, he stressed that his musical gift is divinely inspired and cannot be set aside.

“The talent is from God, and I cannot hide it,” he said, noting that he would continue to sing whenever opportunities arise, regardless of his rank in the police service.

ACP Sarpong additionally touched on his music-making process, revealing that while he writes some of his songs himself, he also collaborates with other writers to produce his gospel works.
