The West African country initially was allocated to Boston, Bryant University as official Ghana training base. However, head coach Carlos Queiroz upon expressing concerns on the training facility, seen the base changed. Ghana left Boston to DC United on Tuesday with both team officials and players already settled in.
Carlos, revealed the facility is open to students and the public, which is not a good thing for the team hence relocated.
After reviewing available options, the Black Stars have now moved their training operations to the training facilities of DC United.
According to Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum, speaking to Asempa FM revealed that the new arrangement will come at an additional cost.
The Black Stars are expected to maintain an intensive training schedule ahead of their Group L opener against Panama on June 17 with their last pee-world cup game cancelled.
Ghana had initially planned to assess their readiness through an international friendly against Honduras, but the match was cancelled after the Central American side withdrew from the arrangement.
Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup and has been drawn in a difficult Group L which has Panama, England and Croatia.
The four-time African champions will begin their campaign against Panama at BMO Field on June 17 before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. Their final group-stage fixture will be against Croatia on June 27.
