President John Dramani Mahama is expected to hold bilateral talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko in Minsk on Monday, June 8, 2026, the final day of his five-day official visit to Belarus, as the two countries seek to deepen cooperation in agriculture, trade, and technical development.
The meeting, scheduled to take place at the Presidential Palace in the Belarusian capital, will be followed by a high-level bilateral engagement involving officials from both countries.
Four memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed following the talks.
President Mahama’s visit, undertaken at the invitation of President Lukashenko, forms part of efforts to explore new opportunities for economic, agricultural, and technical collaboration between Ghana and Belarus.
Later in the day, the President will address a Ghana-Belarus Business Forum at the Presidential Hotel, where government officials and private sector representatives from both countries are expected to discuss investment and trade opportunities.
The Ghanaian delegation includes officials from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), and representatives from the private sector.
The business forum is expected to focus on strengthening commercial partnerships and attracting investment into key sectors of Ghana’s economy.
During his visit, President Mahama toured Savushkin Product Joint Stock Company, one of Belarus’ largest agro-processing facilities, where he observed advanced dairy production technologies and processing systems.
The President also visited the Belagro Agricultural Exhibition, where he was introduced to a range of modern agricultural machinery, mechanisation equipment, and food-processing technologies aimed at improving productivity and reducing post-harvest losses.
The visit reflects Ghana’s growing interest in leveraging Belarusian expertise in agriculture and industrial processing as part of efforts to modernise the country’s agricultural sector and enhance food security.
Accompanying President Mahama are his Advisor and Special Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku; Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Stan Xoese Dogbe; and Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim.
