Hearts of Oak push hard to sign Debibi United midfielder Demetrius Sarkodie – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Hearts of Oak are pushing hard to secure the signature of Debibi United defensive midfielder Demetrius Sarkodie, as the Phobians continue their squad rebuild ahead of the new season.

The 26-year-old played a key role in Debibi United’s historic promotion to the Ghana Premier League, scoring the winning goal in a crucial 1-0 victory over Berekum Arsenal during their title-winning campaign in Zone One B of the Division One League.

Debibi United are open to selling the midfielder, with negotiations expected to progress in the coming days.

Sarkodie’s performances in the heart of midfield have attracted interest from several top-flight clubs, but Hearts appear to be leading the chase.

The Phobians are determined to strengthen their squad after finishing third in the just-ended Ghana Premier League season.

However, the club is currently operating under a FIFA-imposed transfer ban following an unresolved case with former coach Rene Hiddink. Hearts are working to resolve the issue and expect the restrictions to be lifted soon.

Sarkodie would add experience and steel to a Hearts midfield that struggled for consistency throughout the 2025/26 campaign. If a deal is finalised, he would become one of the key signings in the Phobians’ rebuilding project.
