Media practitioners, local artistes pay their last respect to DJ Kazopy

Sunyani, (Bono), May 29, GNA-Scores of journalists, media practitioners and local hip-life artistes in the entertainment industry in the early hours of Friday paid their last respect at the interment of the late Elvis Adi Okumko, a popular radio presenter and ‘DJ’. 
 
Known in the entertainment circle as DJ Kazopy, Okumko died at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital on Tuesday April 28, 2026, after a short illness. 
 
His mortal remains were laid in state for public view at New-Dormaa, a suburb of Sunyani, as hundreds of mourners joined the bereaved family to pay their last respect to the departed soul. 
 
Before his demise, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) learnt that DJ Kazopy worked as a presenter at several radio stations across the country, later joined and ended his career path at the Sunyani-based Sompa FM. 
 
Local and emerging artistes described him as one of the finest DJs in the nation’s entertainment industry who was passionate for unearthing and nurturing the talents of emerging artistes. 
 
“Some of us will forever remember Kazopy, his passion for music and his dedication to grooming young artistes,” Naja Empire team, hip-life artiste wrote in a book of condolence opened in honour of the deceased. 
 
“Kazopy was humble and very respectful, and we have lost a passionate guy in the local entertainment industry”, Michael Asiedu popularly known as DJ Ahoafe also stated in the book of condolences opened by the management of the Sunyani-based Sompa FM. 
 
The Very Reverend Dr Solomon Bruce who signed the book on behalf of the Sunyani Wesley Cathedral of the Methodist Church, wrote, that, “Brother Okumko was a gentleman; by all standards his death is a loss to Sunyani and the entire nation.” 
 
In an interview with the GNA, Mr Yaw Aboagye Boadi, the General Manager of Sompa FM, described DJ Kazopy as hardworking, respectful and disciplined. 

In fact, we have lost a great DJ,” he said.
