JUST IN: Kurt Okraku confirms bid for GFA Presidential third-term

The President of Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt E.S Okraku has confirmed his decision to run for the top position for the third-term, Ghanaian Journalist Kolog Bonaventure can exclusively report.

The provision of the GFA status revised in 2019 led by Dr. Kofi Amoah provided two terms for every elected GFA boss with article 37 explicitly outlining the term of office for the GFA President, members of the Executive Council, and Regional/District Chairmen.

Nonetheless, the former MTN FA Cup committee chairman Kurt Okraku has effected amendments with the length of mandate for these positions is four (4) years as the GFA president can serve a maximum of three (3) terms (totaling 12 years), following the amendment which was approved by the GFA Congress.

Following that, Kurt has declared his intention to run for the Presidency to the Executive Council Members and all Regional Football Association Chairmen despite in his second term. Kurt was handed the local football governing body in September 2019, after defeating Nana Yaw Amponsah, Fred Pappoe, Clinton Amanda and George Akwasi Afriyie in an election held at the Physicians and Surgeons department in Osu.

In 2023, Kurt Okraku seek reelection and went unopposed in Tamale despite several court injunctions.

Officially, the sitting FA boss Kurt Okraku has confirmed to the Executive Council Members (ExCO) of the Association his decision and declared his plans of going unopposed when his second tenure elapse next year, 2027 an insider at the Association reliably disclosed.
