Arnold Asamoah Baidoo Reflects on 20-Year Journey in Entertainment Industry (Video)

Ghanaian entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has opened up about his two-decade journey in the media industry, revealing how discipline, continuous learning, and independence have shaped his career.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview with host Abena Ghana on The Journey show on Adom TV, Baidoo reflected on his beginnings, growth, and evolving perspective within Ghana’s entertainment landscape.

“The Journey,” a popular celebrity and lifestyle talk show hosted by Abena Ghana, airs every Friday at 11:30 AM and focuses on motivation, education, and personal storytelling.

Early beginnings and passion for reading

Arnold Asamoah Baidoo disclosed that his love for entertainment started at a very young age, tracing it back to his childhood when television options were limited to Ghana Television.

According to him, his curiosity extended beyond the screen.
“As a child, around seven or eight years old, anytime I was sent on errands and saw a newspaper, I would pick it up and read,” he said.

Despite initial resistance from his father—who hoped he would become a doctor—Baidoo said his passion for entertainment and reading eventually won support from his family.

A career built on preparation and knowledge

With about 20 years in the industry, Baidoo emphasized that his reputation as a knowledgeable pundit stems from deliberate effort.

“I like learning. Knowledge is not in one person’s head,” he explained. “I read across sectors—sports, politics, entertainment, lifestyle—and I prepare before I go on any platform.”

He noted that while many perceive him as “all-knowing,” his strength lies in preparation rather than perfection.

Growth, maturity, and industry relationships

Baidoo admitted that earlier in his career, he was more outspoken and often critical of artistes, which led to confrontations with figures like Kwame Asare Obeng and Reggie Rockstone.

He recalled a turning point involving A Plus:
“One day I wrote an article criticizing him. Instead of reacting harshly, he called me and spoke to me maturely. That’s how we became good friends.”

Over time, Baidoo says growth and maturity—along with his work in PR and talent management—have influenced how he communicates within the industry.

Independence and speaking without fear

One of the defining aspects of his career, he said, has been financial independence from artistes and event organizers.

“I realized early that there was no money in the industry and little respect, so I prayed it would be a part-time thing for me,” he revealed. “Because I wasn’t dependent on artistes for money, I could speak my mind without fear or favor.”

Industry evolution and digital impact

Baidoo acknowledged that the entertainment industry has significantly improved, particularly with the rise of digital platforms.

“The digital space has helped many people compared to 10 years ago,” he noted, adding that opportunities are now more accessible.

Government’s role and future ambitions

Touching on policy, Baidoo clarified misconceptions about government support for the creative sector.

“The government’s role is not to give money directly but to create an enabling environment and laws that attract investors,” he explained.

On his potential future in politics, he remained non-committal:
“Let’s see what God will do. I haven’t thought about it seriously, but there’s pressure from people.”

Personal life
Away from the spotlight, Baidoo revealed a more private side of his life, including spending time with his family whenever his schedule allows.
