The head pastor of Mahanaim Christian Centre, a church located at Ankaful in Cape Coast, has been arraigned before a court for allegedly recording videos of naked children on his mobile phone.

According to court documents, one of the videos allegedly found on the phone of Reverend Dr. Ebenezer Conduah showed a naked child holding a white card bearing the web address of a popular pornographic website, while a male voice in the background instructed the victim to say they were on the platform.

The accused, who is already standing trial on a defilement charge at a Circuit Court in Cape Coast, was arrested on March 6, 2026, at his apartment at Woraba in Eguase, Cape Coast. Investigators reportedly retrieved five mobile phones, two hard drives, two memory cards, a computer system unit, sex toys and female underwear during a search of the premises.

Conduah was brought before the Adenta Circuit Court in Accra on Sunday, March 8, on two provisional counts of indecent image or photograph of a child and dealing with a child for purposes of sexual abuse, contrary to Sections 62 and 63 of the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038).

The court did not take his plea.

The Adenta Circuit Court does not have jurisdiction to try the matter; however, the accused was arraigned there in compliance with the constitutional requirement that a person arrested must not be held for more than 48 hours without being brought before a court.

He has been remanded into prison custody and is expected to appear before the High Court in Accra later this week.

Prosecution’s facts

Presenting the provisional facts, the prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Fuseini Yakubi, named the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) as the complainant in the case.

He said that on December 8, 2025, the CSA received a request for technical assistance from the Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Cape Coast to conduct a forensic analysis of digital devices belonging to the accused in connection with eight defilement cases pending before Cape Coast Circuit Court One.

During the forensic examination of the devices, DSP Yakubi said several materials suspected to contain child sexual abuse content involving multiple child victims were discovered.

Notably, one video allegedly showed a naked child victim holding a white card inscribed with the web address of a popular pornographic website while a male voice in the background instructed the victim to say they were on the platform.

The prosecutor added that information uncovered during the forensic analysis made it necessary for investigators to bring the accused in to assist with the investigations.

On March 6, 2026, the accused was arrested at his apartment at Woraba in Eguase, Cape Coast.

“A search of the apartment resulted in the retrieval of exhibits, including five mobile phones, two hard drives, two memory cards, one computer system unit, sex toys, and female panties, which were retained for evidential purposes,” the prosecutor told the court.

DSP Yakubi added that during interrogation, the accused confirmed that he recorded the video and that the voice heard in the background was his.

He further told the court that it was revealed during questioning that the victim in the video was the same victim involved in a case pending before Cape Coast Circuit Court One.

“The accused declined to make any further comments unless he had first consulted his lawyers.

“The forensic examination of the accused’s devices is ongoing. The newly retrieved digital exhibits from his arrest will be submitted to the CSA Digital Forensic Lab for examination as well,” the prosecutor stated.
