Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Thursday, March 5

Kenya Power has announced planned power outages across several regions on Thursday, March 5, 2026, as part of routine maintenance. Customers in affected areas are advised to plan ahead.

“The following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow, 05.03.2026,” the utility company posted on its social media accounts.




In Nairobi, parts of Ngara, including Pioneer University, Guru Nanak Hospital, Pangani Girls School, Pangani Police Station, Radiant Hospital, Fairview Road, North View Road, Muratina Street, and Jam Street, will experience outages from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Other areas such as Langata and Karen, including Banda, Kisembe Road, Safe Park, Parkview, Catholic University, and nearby streets, will also be affected during the same hours.

In Makueni County, Makindu and Kibwezi, including Kiundwani Market, Mbuinzanu, Lukenya University, Kisayani, Ikutha, Mutomo, and surrounding areas, will lose power from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. In South Nyanza, residents in Kisii County (Riana and Nyamira Ndogo) and Nyamira County (Matunwa, Gesima, Mosobeti) will face outages at the same time.

Other parts

Parts of the Mt. Kenya region, including Nyeri County areas Kiru, Gatunguru, and Kihoya, will be without power from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. In Kirinyaga County, areas around Beckham Hotel and Ithareini will also be affected. Tharaka Nithi County areas, including Giampampo, Ndagani, and Chuka Boys, will experience outages from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm.

Laikipia County areas Likii, Kangaita, and Kalalu, along with Coast region locations Manyani in Taita Taveta and Ukunda in Kwale, will also experience blackouts from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. In Kiambu County, Athena and Muthaiga, as well as commercial sites such as Acme Containers and Norbrook (K) Ltd, will lose power during the same hours.
