There is tension in Ojuwo-Ubele community in the Akpanya district  of  Igalamela/Odolu Local Council of Kogi State where armed bandits killed two members of the community, and abducted two others in a bloody attack on the peaceful community.

The incident, according to sources, took place on February 28, 2026.

The local security team informed The Guardian that the gunmen stormed a provision shop to rob the owner of some cash. The shop owner was shot in the process and was found dead after the gunmen left.

The second victim killed in the attack was the Assistant Commandant of the Nigeria Forestry and Security Services Guard at Ojuwo-Ubele.

The local vigilante said: “In addition to the two people killed, the gunmen took away two other victims to the forest. Even though we saw the direction the gunmen headed, we could not intercept them because they were heavily armed with AK-47”

The attack was  reported to the  police post in Akpanya which prompted the police to visit the scene of the attack.

In a similar development, a resident of Odolu community in the same Local Council  was abducted by suspected armed men, bringing the total number of kidnapped victims to three.

Meanwhile, a community source  reported that the kidnappers have demanded N25 million ransom for the release of the three victims in their custody.
