Mwengi Mutuse Asks Ruto to Work With Kalonzo Musyoka Ahead of 2027 Polls

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse has urged President William Ruto to work with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Mutuse made the appeal on Monday, October 26, 2026, as Ruto continued his development tour of Ukambani. He called on residents to encourage Kalonzo to reconsider his opposition stance and cooperate with the national government.

The legislator said closer cooperation could help address regional priorities, including roads, clean water and youth employment. He also questioned why Kalonzo remains in the opposition while politicians who previously worked with him have joined the government.

During the tour, Ruto highlighted development projects in Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties and appealed for support in his 2027 re-election bid. The visit came as the administration sought to strengthen its political support in the region.

Kalonzo has maintained his opposition to Ruto’s administration and has been linked to efforts to unite opposition leaders ahead of the election.

Mutuse’s appeal adds to the debate over Ukambani’s political direction and whether its leaders will support the government or remain aligned with the opposition.
