Defending champions, La Salem Oldies, will face off with Rangoon Oldies in the final of the Oswal Constructions Retired National Footballers Association of Ghana (RENFAG) Champions League tomorrow at the McDan La Town Park at 3pm.

La Salem Oldies, the Zone B champions, booked their ticket to a second successive final after defeating Zone A runners-up, Veterans KFC, 2-1 and Zone C champions, Nima Oldies, by the same score in the quarter- and semi-finals respectively.

Zone B runners-up, Rangoon Oldies, defeated Zone A champions, Tema Ex-footballers, 2-0 and Zone D champions, SCC Sunday Stars, 3-2 on penalties, following a goalless draw in regulation time, to seal an all Zone B final.

Ahead of the clash, the Head Coach of Rangoon Oldies, Samuel Entsie, has fired the first salvo, stating that “La Salem may have won the battle, but the war belongs to us.”

For the Head Coach of La Salem, Richard Nai, he said defending the title was the ultimate goal, noting that just as they triumphed in the league phase, the same shall happen again tomorrow.

Before the final, SCC Sunday Stars will take on Nima Oldies in the third-place match at 1pm.

At stake for the winner is a trophy, medals, and a cash prize of GH¢5,000. The first and second runners-up will walk away with medals and cash prizes of GH¢3,000 and GH¢2,000, respectively, while the fourth-placed team will receive GH¢1,000.

According to the Vice Chairman of RENFAG, Alhaji Abdul Karim Mustapha Oliver (a.k.a. Alhaji Oliver), there would also be individual awards for the Player of the Match, Overall Best Player, Goal King, Best Defender, Best Goalkeeper, and the Fair Play Team.

He revealed that the Special Guest of Honour will be the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, with the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr Prosper Harrison Addo, leading a delegation from the association.
