Your actions towards military officer could trigger coup – Vim Lady warns Sam George
According to report by Ghanaweb on Saturday 7, November 2026, renowned Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has criticised the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, over his recent public confrontation with a military officer during a dispute involving an operation in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency.
The incident reportedly involved the minister and Lieutenant Albert Goh, whom Sam George accused of intimidating residents and conducting an operation in the constituency without proper authorisation. The minister alleged that the officer had arrived in the area with heavily armed soldiers and seized several trucks, describing the operation as unacceptable and likening the conduct of the personnel to armed robbery.
During the confrontation, Sam George expressed strong displeasure with the officer’s actions, warning that any military personnel who returned to the constituency to brutalise residents would face consequences. He also described Lieutenant Goh as a disgrace to the Ghana Armed Forces and called on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to take immediate disciplinary action.
However, Vim Lady believes the minister could have handled the disagreement more professionally instead of openly confronting the military officer and making comments she considers disrespectful to his position and rank.
Speaking in a video shared on TikTok, the media personality cautioned Sam George against using inflammatory language when dealing with members of the military. She argued that public officials, particularly those occupying sensitive government positions, must demonstrate maturity and emotional intelligence when addressing disagreements involving security personnel.
According to Vim Lady, attaining the rank of lieutenant within the Ghana Armed Forces requires considerable dedication, training and commitment. She therefore questioned why the minister would choose to publicly rebuke an officer rather than use established institutional channels to address his concerns.
She suggested that Sam George could have contacted the military leadership or directly engaged the Chief of Defence Staff to seek clarification and appropriate action instead of allowing the disagreement to escalate publicly.
Vim Lady further expressed concern that confrontational exchanges between political officeholders and military personnel could create unnecessary tension between civilians and the armed forces. She warned that irresponsible public statements and escalating disagreements could have serious implications for national stability, even raising concerns about the possibility of military intervention in democratic governance.
In concluding her remarks, Vim Lady advised the Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament to exercise restraint, control his temper and consider emotional intelligence training to improve how he handles sensitive public disagreements.
She maintained that although the minister has a responsibility to defend his constituents and demand accountability from security personnel, such responsibilities must be pursued through appropriate channels and with respect for institutional authority.
