Wahome Lists All The Things Ruto Has Done To Mt Kenya People As Revenge

Political commentator Wahome Thuku has listed a series of actions he alleges were taken against the Mt. Kenya region during President William Ruto’s first 745 days in power, claiming the region paid a heavy price. The claims are his own, and he did not attach evidence to the post.

According to Wahome, land belonging to former President Uhuru Kenyatta was raided, with sheep stolen and trees burnt down. He alleges that the home of Uhuru’s son was also raided at 4am on instructions issued from the Harambee annex. He further claims the family’s milk business was targeted, with a pledge to wipe it out within six months.

He also said the home of Fred Matiang’i was raided and broken into, with items taken away. Wahome claimed that Pauline Njoro and a friend were arrested and locked up on what he called framed charges of bhang trafficking.

The commentator went on to allege that unemployed youths in Central Kenya were branded as Mungiki and threatened with elimination. He added that elderly women praying at a Kikuyu shrine in Murang’a were arrested on orders from the annex.

Wahome also claimed that peaceful Sufuria demonstrations by the opposition were broken up in a ruthless way, supervised from 4am. He said bar and club owners in the region were shut down, with only those who paid a hefty reopening fee getting their licences back. Finally, he alleged that coffee and tea exports from Mt. Kenya were blocked, with brokers required to pay a fee to what he called the King of the Annex.

The post is likely to stir debate at a time when both the government and the opposition are fighting for the region’s votes. Government allies have often dismissed such accounts as political propaganda, while critics say they point to a pattern that Mt. Kenya voters should not forget.
