Morara Kebaso: Why Gachagua Is Clashing With Matiang’i, Ndindi Nyoro & JB Muturi

Political activist Morara Kebaso has offered his interpretation of the growing political differences between former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other influential leaders from the Mount Kenya region.

In a statement shared on November 3, 2026, Kebaso argued that the disagreements involving Gachagua, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi are largely driven by the struggle to control the region’s political direction.

According to Kebaso, the underlying issue is the desire to command enough political influence in Mount Kenya to strengthen one’s position in future negotiations and power sharing arrangements.

He suggested that Gachagua’s differences with the three leaders should not simply be viewed as personal disagreements but rather as part of a wider contest over regional leadership and political influence.

Kebaso further claimed that those involved want to bring together a strong political support base that would give them greater bargaining power when engaging other political formations ahead of the 2027 General Election.

His remarks come at a time when political competition within the Mount Kenya region continues to attract attention, with several leaders positioning themselves to influence the region’s political future.
