Sign InPolitics"MPs Oscar Sudi and Jalang’o Organised Attack on Standard Group Media" Rigathi Gachagua RevealsBy Boniface Mulyungi · October 28, 2026 · 1 min readSponsored AdFormer Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused MPs Oscar Sudi and Jalang’o of organising the attack on Standard Media Group offices, raising fresh questions about the identities of those allegedly behind the incident.

The Standard Group offices were attacked by a group of youths on October 2, 2026, prompting concerns over media freedom and the safety of journalists in Kenya.

Investigations aired by KTN News and Citizen TV subsequently reported alleged links between the attack and two Members of Parliament, one from Nairobi and the other from the Rift Valley region.

The reports indicated that more than KSh400,000 was allegedly paid to mobilisers linked to the youths involved in the incident.

Gachagua’s accusation appears to align with the regional descriptions in the media investigations. Oscar Sudi represents Kapseret Constituency in Uasin Gishu County, Rift Valley, while Jalang’o represents Lang’ata Constituency in Nairobi County.

The geographical connection has drawn attention to Gachagua’s claims, given that the investigations reportedly described the suspected MPs using the same two regions.

However, the regional similarities do not independently establish that the two lawmakers organised or financed the attack.

Their alleged involvement remains a claim attributed to Gachagua unless corroborated by further evidence or established through the relevant investigative and judicial processes.

The incident has renewed scrutiny of who mobilised the youths, how the alleged payments were made and whether those responsible will face legal action.

The allegations also raise broader questions about the protection of media institutions and the need for transparent investigations into attacks targeting journalists and media houses.
