Gachagua Makes His Position Clear on Ndindi Nyoro as He Speaks on DCP and Mount Kenya Unity

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said he has no problem with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, while insisting that the Mount Kenya region is united under the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

Gachagua made the remarks while addressing questions surrounding Nyoro and the political direction of the Mount Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election. He maintained that Nyoro was welcome to seek him out and discuss any issues without fear of being attacked.

“I have no problem with Ndindi Nyoro. He should know that the mountain is united under DCP,” Gachagua said.

He then directly addressed the Kiharu MP, using words intended to assure him that he would be safe if he visited him.

“Ndindi Nyoro, kuja unitafute Wamunyoro, hakuna mtu atakupiga,” Gachagua added.

The remarks come amid continued political discussions over the leadership of the Mount Kenya region and the alliances likely to shape the next general election.

The region remains an important political battleground because of its voting strength and influence on national election outcomes. Leaders seeking support from the area are expected to face pressure to explain their positions and relationships with rival political groups.

Gachagua has been building DCP as a political vehicle as he seeks to strengthen his influence in the region. His latest comments appeared to emphasise his position that Mount Kenya should remain united under the party.

Nyoro, who represents Kiharu Constituency in Murang’a County, is among the region’s prominent elected leaders. His political position and future alliances could attract attention as politicians begin positioning themselves ahead of 2027.

However, Gachagua’s remarks alone do not establish whether Nyoro has agreed to join DCP or support its political plans. No such commitment was contained in the quoted comments.

The former deputy president’s invitation also leaves open the question of whether the two leaders will hold direct talks and what such a meeting might mean for their political relationship.

As political realignments continue, attention is likely to focus on whether Gachagua can bring more Mount Kenya leaders under DCP and how Nyoro will respond to his public message.
