Senior Counsel Paul Muite Reacts To New Fuel Prices Announced by EPRA
Senior Counsel Paul Muite has blamed cartels in the Government-to-Government fuel import deal for the high cost of fuel.
In a statement on X, Muite said the G-to-G system has been captured by barons making huge profits at the expense of Kenyans.
“Fuel imports G-2-G barons are making a killing amidst Kenyans’ pain,” he wrote, terming the losses as theft in plain sight and a major cause of high cost of living in transport, farming and manufacturing.
He called for recovery of stolen funds and transparency, questioning why fuel outside G-to-G was bought at $253 per metric tonne while G-to-G fuel is at $84 per metric tonne. His remarks come amid EPRA’s latest review that has kept petrol above KSh 214.
Meanwhile, in Kirinyaga, Woman Rep Njeri Maina has defended Senator Kamau Murango after drama unfolded over claims he gifted women branded underwear.
Images went viral showing white and pink panties branded “NGAAF GVN KAMAU MURANGO 2027 MUTEMBEI,” sparking protests from residents who termed it demeaning.
Speaking on October 12, 2026, Maina dismissed it as propaganda by opponents trying to tarnish their names.
“Our opponents have panicked. They are trying to tarnish our names with fake propaganda,” she said, insisting NGAAF funds are used for dignified empowerment.
She defended the Senator and urged politicians to exercise clean and fair politics instead of cheap propaganda.
The Senator is yet to issue a detailed statement.
