President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr Abdul-Baasit Aziz-Bamba as Acting Director-General of the Value for Money Office.
The appointment, announced on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 14(1) of the Value for Money Office Act, 2026 (Act 1122).
The appointment was announced by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, in a statement dated Tuesday, September 8.
Dr Aziz-Bamba will serve in an acting capacity pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the Governing Board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
Dr Aziz-Bamba is a Harvard-trained lawyer who, until his appointment, served as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law.
The Value for Money Office is mandated to ensure that public expenditure delivers value and serves the public good.
His appointment is expected to support the operationalisation of the Office and strengthen scrutiny of public spending, reduce waste and ensure that government expenditure delivers tangible benefits to Ghanaians.
