Accident scene; Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
Three persons have died in a multiple auto crash that occurred at the Long Bridge, opposite Mikano along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
10 other persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries from the crash
The crash involved three vehicles, a white Mazda bus with registration number: AGL891XX, a white Toyota bus with registration number: KJA247YM, and a white Toyota Corolla car with registration number: BDG867HG.
The accident occurred on Friday, 4 September 2026, at approximately 1710hrs, along the highway.
A spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Afolabi Odunsi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.
Odunsi said that a total number of 16 people( 12 males and four females) were involved in the crash, while 10 persons(nine males and 1 female) sustained injuries) and the remaining three persons (all female) were confirmed dead.
He said that the cause of the crash was due to Speed Violation (SPV) and loss of control (LOC) adding that investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Chief Route Commander said that the crash was reported to the FRSC officials at 1734hrs, and the rescue team arrived at the scene at 1740hrs, representing a six-minute response time.
He said that some of the injured victims were evacuated to AZ Hospital, Magboro, while others were taken to the Accident and Emergency Centre, Ojota, for medical attention.
Odunsi noted that the remains of the deceased victims were evacuated to Ifo Morgue and Idera Morgue, Sagamu, by the Ogun State Ambulance Service and FRSC personnel.
He said that the crashed vehicles have been taken into custody by the MTD Police, Warewa, for further investigation.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, sympathized with the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
Ogunjobi urged motorists plying the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway to exercise maximum caution, avoid excessive speed, maintain proper control of their vehicles and remain alert throughout their journeys.
He further advised motorists to drive within safe speed limits and avoid any behaviour capable of compromising their safety and that of other road users.
