COKA with some market women at Race Course Market in Kumasi
THE ASHANTI Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) has extended an olive branch to market women in Kumasi, urging them to support the party to recapture political power in 2028.
The NPP has admitted that disconnection between the party and the market women, who were once a pillar behind the party in the region, negatively affected its fortunes in the 2024 polls.
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, aka COKA, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, insisted that the party critically needs the support of the traders to win the 2028 polls.
In this regard, he stated emphatically that his administration has vowed to reconnect the party and all their disgruntled supporters as soon as possible.
“Apart from our founding fathers, our loyal market women were the foundational pillar that helped to establish the NPP, the political party which we all love, adore and cherish.
“Under my tenure, the Ashanti Regional NPP will deepen our engagements with market women to ensure that your real-world concerns directly inform our policy design,” he stated.
The Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman made the remarks when he led his executives to tour the Race Course Market in Kumasi, to help reconnect the party with the market women.
The market women were overly excited to see the newly elected Ashanti Regional NPP executives in their midst. There were shouts of “NPP, NPP, NPP” all over the market.
COKA observed that poor mismanagement of the economy by the President John Dramani Mahama-led administration has created hardship for the people, especially the traders.
He said the country critically needs the NPP back in political office in 2028 to implement effective programmes and policies, to help restore Ghana to the path of prosperity.
“It’s sad and disheartening to hear your complaints about the slow market trade and the economic challenges that you have been facing since this administration took over power.
“This clearly buttresses my position that the NPP remains your strongest ally for effective governance and economic progress,” COKA stated.
He passionately appealed to the traders “to forgive and forget about the past” and rather throw their unflinching support to the NPP, to ensure the party’s victory in the 2028 elections.
“I plead with you to stand with us in this rebuilding phase so we can return the party to government in 2028,” COKA stated, adding that “the NPP holds the keys to Ghana’s growth.”
