The five people who died in a collapsed building in Ilorin, Kwara State on Tuesday were yesterday (Wednesday) morning buried according to Islamic rites.

The burial at the Muslim cemetery in Oko-olowo in Ilorin was accompanied with a call on the state government to start public enlightenment/sensitisation of residents on ways to prevent the occurrence of such “preventable natural disasters”.

Airtel Tenancy

Leading the janzah (burial) prayer, the renown Islamic scholar, Prof. Abubakar Imam Ali- Agan of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN,) in a brief sermon, urged Muslims to have absolute faith in Allah and accept His will in every situation and in all circumstances.

He described death as inevitable and urged the family of the victims to take solace in the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, who described such tragic death as a source of admittance to paradise.

Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq was represented at the funeral by one of his aides, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah.

The five deceased, who were of the same family and died in a building collapse in Ilorin, Kwara State, were buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites.

Recall that their bodies were recovered from the debris of a three-storey building that collapsed at the Popo Giwa area of Oke-Oyan in Ilorin on Tuesday.
