The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has partnered Adwinsa Publications Ghana Limited and the Ghana Library Authority to promote Ghana’s tourism and cultural heritage among children through literature.
The partnership has resulted in the publication of “Ama Ghana,” a children’s tourism book designed to introduce young readers to Ghana’s tourism attractions, cultural heritage and national identity.
The initiative is based on the idea that literature can play an important role in tourism promotion by turning stories into gateways that inspire readers to discover real-life destinations, cultural sites, festivals and places associated with the stories they encounter.
The partners are therefore seeking to use children’s literature to nurture an early interest in Ghana and its tourism potential, while helping young people develop a deeper appreciation of the country’s heritage and identity.
The book will be unveiled at the 2026 Ghana International Book Fair on Friday, August 28, at the National Theatre of Ghana in Accra. The launch is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and is expected to bring together stakeholders from the tourism, publishing and education sectors.
The publication also forms part of efforts to complement the flagship Black Star Experience Programme, which seeks to position Ghana as a preferred tourism destination within the sub-region and beyond.
Through “Ama Ghana,” the partners hope children will become familiar with Ghana’s rich tourism and cultural offerings from an early age and develop a lasting appreciation for the people, places and experiences that define the country.
The unveiling will further feature discussions on the role of literature and storytelling in tourism promotion and the importance of exposing children to Ghana’s heritage and attractions through engaging and relatable content.
The partners expect “Ama Ghana” to serve a dual purpose as both an educational and promotional resource, using storytelling to inspire young readers to learn about and appreciate Ghana while generating interest in the country’s tourism destinations and cultural assets.
