Rescuers have evacuated at least 184 tourists from flash floods disaster zone (along the Nepal-Tibet border), while 420 remain out of contact, Nepal Tourism Board (NTP) says.
According to NTB, as of 1:30 p.m., which is 10:45 a.m. in Kenya, on August 29, 2026, “184 tourists” had been rescued, three were in contact with the authorities, while “420 people” were out of contact.
This was after glacier collapse triggered a huge torrent of rock, ice, mud and debris through Himalayan mountain river systems, killing people, with thousands still missing.
A table published by the NTP lists a total of 15 countries affected by the disaster.
The board said all relevant services will continue to run efficiently to ensure the “safety of tourists and travelers affected by the natural disaster.”
“The board is also coordinating with diplomatic missions seeking information and assistance regarding their nationals affected by the disaster,” the tourism board said in a statement.
At least 626 people have been killed in the flooding in Nepal, while nearly 2,500 people are listed as missing, including 213 foreign nationals.
