Work to fix the numerous potholes in the Ho Municipality is progressing steadily.

The GHc 3million project, which covers a total of 25 kilometres will be completed in September this year, said the Municipal Chief Executive, Stephen Adom.

He told the Graphic in an interview in Ho today Thursday (August 27) that the potholes patching exercise was necessary to facilitate the 24-Hour Economy initiative in the municipality.

“It will also enhance the status of Ho as the Oxygen City of Ghana,” Mr Adom added.

The MCE said the project was being undertaken by the Department of Urban Roads and Ghana Highway Authority.

He said the various investors had expressed interest in doing business in Ho, for which reason the roads must create a good impression of the municipality before the eyes of the investors.

“That means we will also keep our streets clean all the time and uphold a high standard of sanitation,” Mr Adom affirmed.

He said the patching work would also be extended to nearby Klefe and Taviefe, while culverts at Ho-Kokompe would be reconstructed.

Apart from the patching work on the roads, the MCE gave an assurance all the streets in the municipality would be fitted with lights before the end of this year, to support the local economy around the clock.

“Ho is expanding rapidly with structures, people, businesses, and schools, and we must respond accordingly,” the MCE maintained.

Meanwhile, Mr Adom announced the plans of a group of investors was set to convert the Ho Municipal Abattoir at Sokode into a chicken processing factory, with effect from this year.
