Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has won the Africa Top Model title in Vietnam, ensuring her place in the Top 40 quarterfinals of the Miss World pageant.

Nigeria has once again asserted its dominance in the international beauty and fashion arena as Tamunosoye Karibi-George, the current representative for the 2026 Miss World pageant, achieved a monumental victory.

In a dazzling display of grace and poise, she was crowned the winner of the Africa Top Model title during a high-profile event in Vietnam. The competition took place as a central part of the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII, which was centered around the evocative theme Soul of Heritage.

This theme encouraged contestants to blend traditional cultural elements with modern fashion, and Karibi-George’s performance clearly resonated with the judges, allowing her to stand out among a field of highly talented competitors. By securing this prestigious title, she has not only brought honor to her home country but has also mathematically guaranteed her progression into the Top 40 quarterfinals of the Miss World competition. This achievement marks a significant milestone in her journey toward the ultimate crown.

The path to the Miss World crown is arduous and multi-faceted, involving several fast-track challenges designed to test the versatility and intelligence of the participants. The Miss World Organisation announced that Karibi-George is one of four continental winners, alongside representatives from the Americas and Caribbean, Europe, and Asia and Oceania. These four winners have successfully navigated the Top Model challenge, which serves as a critical gateway to the quarterfinals.

While the Top 40 will eventually consist of ten contestants from each continent, the remaining slots are filled through other rigorous categories such as People’s Choice, Beauty With a Purpose, Head-to-Head, and Multimedia challenges. It is worth noting that the stakes remain high, as the overall global Top Model winner will be chosen from these four continental champions and will receive an even more coveted direct ticket to the Top 20.

Karibi-George had already shown her potential earlier in the competition during the Head-to-Head Challenge, where she successfully advanced to the African finals, proving her mental fortitude and speaking abilities. To understand the magnitude of this win, one must look at the impressive background of Tamunosoye Karibi-George. The twenty-six-year-old beauty hails from Port Harcourt and represented Bayelsa State during the national selection process.

Her journey culminated on June 6, when she was officially crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. She took over the mantle from Joy Mojisola Raimi, who had previously performed admirably by reaching the Top 20.

However, Karibi-George is far more than just a face of beauty; she is a highly accomplished professional in the field of communications. As an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, she brings a level of sophistication and strategic thinking to her public appearances. Her intellectual depth is matched by her compassion, as evidenced by her role as the founder of Beyond Labels.

This initiative is dedicated to the empowerment of children with special needs and the promotion of social inclusion, reflecting the Beauty With a Purpose ethos that the Miss World Organisation prizes above all else. The victory in Vietnam is not an isolated success but rather a continuation of a winning streak for the young Nigerian.

Before her ascent to the national throne, she had already made her mark on the international stage by being crowned Miss Africa International 2024 in Accra, Ghana. This previous experience provided her with the necessary confidence and stage presence to navigate the pressures of a global competition. In the Africa Top Model round, she faced stiff competition from delegates representing Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya, and South Africa.

While South Africa’s Romanda Hombir won her own country’s continental round, Karibi-George’s overall performance secured her the top spot for the continent. This success has ignited a wave of optimism across Nigeria, as citizens hope that her combination of professional expertise, philanthropic dedication, and undeniable beauty will lead her to a podium finish.

As the competition progresses toward the final stages, all eyes will be on her as she represents the vibrant spirit and heritage of the African continent on the world stage
