Accra, Aug. 25, GNA – The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has led the newly elected Executive Presbytery officers of the Church to pay a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at his residence in Accra.
The visit was to formally introduce the newly elected leaders to the President and express gratitude to him for serving as the Special Guest of Honour at the 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting of Assemblies of God, Ghana, which ended at Gomoa Fetteh on August 22, 2026.
The delegation comprised Rev. Kwadwo Boateng Bempah, Assistant General Superintendent-elect; Rev. Albert Anane, General Secretary-elect; and Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam, wife of the General Superintendent and National President of the Ministers’ Wives Association.
Others were Rev. (Rtd.) Ernest Agyei, Special Aide to the General Superintendent, and Mr. Fuseini Donkor, Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations at the National Service Authority and Board Chairman of Teen Challenge of Assemblies of God, Ghana.
During the meeting, Rev. Wengam expressed profound appreciation to President Mahama for his loyal membership of Assemblies of God, Ghana, and the support he and the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, continue to provide to the Church.
He also pledged the Church’s continued prayers and support for the First Family and the Government.
President Mahama congratulated the newly elected leaders and commended Rev. Wengam for what he described as his visionary and bold leadership.
The President noted that Rev. Wengam’s leadership had earned him an overwhelming endorsement for a second term as General Superintendent.
He further observed that Assemblies of God, Ghana, had experienced significant growth since Rev. Wengam assumed office and expressed the hope that the Church would sustain and accelerate that growth trajectory.
Rev. Wengam was re-elected General Superintendent at the Church’s recently concluded General Council Meeting, securing nearly 90 per cent of the votes cast, while his main contender, Rev. Dr. Kwame Bansah, obtained about 10 per cent.
