A real estate investment company, Golden Coast Developers, has donated GH¢20,000 to the 37 Military Hospital to support patients struggling to pay their medical bills.
The donation was distributed among patients in the general, maternity and children’s wards.
The Head of Business Development at the Golden Coast Developers, Lady Roberta Blankson, said the support was to reduce patients’ financial burden.
Other members of the Golden Coast Developers team present for the donation, which was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, were the Head of Human Resources, Belinda Acquah and the Director of Information Technology, Theophilus Lartey.
Not one-off
Ms Blankson, on behalf of the company, expressed appreciation to the hospital for turning its intentions into reality.
“We are grateful to the management of the hospital for the support and commitment in making this initiative possible. Your continued encouragement allows us to extend our impact beyond our business and contribute meaningfully to the communities around us,” she said
She also gave an assurance that the gesture would not be a one-time activity but part of a continuous effort to support people in need, emphasising that the donation also demonstrated the commitment of the Golden Coast Developers to its social responsibility and desire to extend the impact of its work beyond the usual business activities to people receiving treatment in hospitals.
Ms Blankson further stated that the gesture would not be limited to one hospital, as the company intended to extend it to other hospitals and communities in the future.
A guardian of one of the patients at the children’s ward expressed gratitude for the support and explained that the child’s condition had placed a significant emotional and financial burden on the family.
The guardian, whose name was withheld, said the family had struggled to meet the cost of the child’s medication and thus welcomed the assistance, saying it would help ease the family’s financial burden.
