Companies operating within Ghana’s port and logistics industry have come together for the 2026 edition of the LCB Corporate Games, a 12-to-14-week sporting competition aimed at promoting collaboration, healthy lifestyles and stronger professional relationships among industry players.
The competition, now in its fifth year, brings together 16 corporate institutions from across the port and logistics sector. It is being staged across the Accra and Tema zones, with the top teams from the two zones expected to meet in a grand finale to determine the overall champion.
Beyond the sporting contest, the organisers say the annual event provides an opportunity for employees of participating institutions to interact outside their usual business environment, build networks and foster camaraderie through recreation and physical activity.
Among the participating institutions is the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), which has entered two teams in this year’s competition, the Fire Department and the Mechanical Department.
GPHA has been a regular participant in the corporate games, joining other companies and institutions operating within Ghana’s ports, shipping, freight and logistics ecosystem.
LCB expands corporate social responsibility drive
The games are being organised by LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited as part of the company’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and its drive to create platforms that bring industry stakeholders together.
According to Philomena Ocloo, an official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, the initiative also provides an avenue for the company to create greater awareness about its operations and the services it provides.
“It is very necessary for us to give back to the community so as we create awareness of what we literally do. Because most of the times, people don’t know what disinfection is all about, so as we undertake this particular project every particular year, it is a way of letting the society that we happen to be around know that this is what we are into,” she said.
She explained that the annual initiative allows LCB Worldwide Ghana to engage directly with the wider business community while combining its CSR objectives with activities that promote social interaction and wellbeing.
Promoting healthier workplaces and stronger business ties
Organisers believe the competition can also contribute to healthier workplaces by encouraging employees to participate in sporting activities while creating informal spaces for companies to strengthen existing relationships.
Felix Segbaya, another official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, said the games were designed to communicate a broader message about the company’s relationship with its business partners.
“I think at the end of the day, it sends a signal to our business partners that we are not just about business. We’re looking to send a sense of good health and all that, friendliness amongst ourselves. So, in a way, it has brought us together and it has increased the way we do business,” he said.
The tournament therefore serves as both a sporting and networking platform, allowing employees from institutions that regularly interact in Ghana’s port and logistics industry to compete, socialise and strengthen professional ties.
GH₵35,000 in prize money
Competition will continue through a series of fixtures in Accra and Tema before the leading teams advance to the grand finale.
The overall champion will receive GH₵20,000, while the first runner-up will take home GH₵10,000 and the second runner-up will receive GH₵5,000.
With the tournament expected to run for up to 14 weeks, attention will now turn to the fixtures in the two zones as participating teams compete for progression to the final stage.
The organisers expect the fifth edition of the LCB Corporate Games to further strengthen relationships among companies in the port and logistics sector while promoting fitness, teamwork, recreation and a stronger sense of community within the industry.
