André Ross Appointed Chief Country Officer and Head of Banking for South Africa at Citi

Johannesburg, South Africa, August 2026 — André Ross has been appointed Chief Country Officer and Head of Banking for South Africa at Citi, bringing extensive experience across corporate banking, financial institutions, capital markets and financial services leadership in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Ross joins Citi following more than nine years at J.P. Morgan, where he most recently served as Managing Director and Head of Global Corporate Banking, Sub-Saharan Africa. He held the position from May 2022 to August 2026, following his earlier role as Executive Director and Head of Global Corporate Banking, Sub-Saharan Africa. His tenure at J.P. Morgan provided extensive experience leading corporate banking relationships and activities across the region.

Before J.P. Morgan, Ross held senior positions within Barclays Africa Group, including Principal (Director), Head of Financial Institutions Group Africa (ex-South Africa) and Head of FI Sales Africa (ex-South Africa). His responsibilities included financial institutions strategy across Sub-Saharan African markets and products spanning local currency bonds, risk management and structured yield solutions.

Earlier, Ross worked with Absa Capital, where he served as Associate Principal: Fixed Income Sales and Associate Principal: Africa FI Sales. His work covered South African and Sub-Saharan African financial institutions across bonds, derivatives, structured products and other markets solutions. Earlier in his career, he gained finance and accounting experience with the Bahá’í World Centre and United Africa Group.

Beyond his corporate career, Ross has contributed to several community and governance initiatives. He has served as a Member of the Investment Committee of the Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa Mintirho Foundation and previously as a founding trustee of the foundation. He was also a founding member and Chairperson of the Diepsloot Mountain Bike Academy, Deputy President of the South Africa School Cycling Federation, and a Non-Executive Director at AfriGrow Development.
