Accra, Aug. 19, GNA – The Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce (CanCham) will convene chief executives, financiers, policymakers and investors on Thursday to discuss strategies for mobilising capital to support cross-border business expansion.

The event, dubbed CEOs’ Connect 2026, will be held on the theme: “Financing the Future: Capital Strategies for Cross-Border Business Expansion.”

A statement issued in Accra said the event coincides with CanCham’s 10th anniversary and comes as Ghana pursues measures to reset the economy, restore investor confidence and implement the 24-Hour Economy programme.

It said discussions would focus on how Ghanaian and Canadian companies could access the capital needed to expand beyond domestic markets.

The centerpiece of the programme would be a high-level panel discussion involving leaders from institutions across the capital and market-access value chain.

The panelists will include Mrs Abena Amoah, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Stock Exchange; Mr Simon Madjie, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre; and Dr Mary Awusi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority.

Others are Ms Cynthia E. Gnassingbe-Essonam, the Director of Private Sector Engagement and Communications at the AfCFTA Secretariat, and Mr Calleb Osei, the Country Chief Financial Officer of Guaranty Trust Bank Ghana.

It said the discussions would examine domestic capital markets, foreign direct investment, export-oriented manufacturing, continental market access and commercial bank financing.

The event would feature special remarks from the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, as the Distinguished Guest of Honour.

Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and Ms Myriam Montrat, the Canadian High Commissioner in Accra, would participate as Special Guests.

The statement said the programme would also include business-to-business networking sessions to enable participating companies to explore partnerships, investment opportunities and trade collaborations.

Discussions will focus on access to structured and blended finance, private equity and investment opportunities, cross-border partnerships and joint ventures, and the policy and regulatory environment for foreign direct investment.

It said high-growth sectors to be examined include energy, agribusiness, technology, manufacturing, infrastructure and financial technology.

Mrs Edwina Atta-Sonno, the Chief Executive Officer of CanCham, said Ghanaian businesses were not short of ambition but often lacked access to the right kind of capital structured on appropriate terms.

She said the CEOs’ Connect 2026 would bring together capital providers and businesses seeking financing, as CanCham sought to promote practical economic diplomacy through capital deployment, partnerships and new ventures.
