A Past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), Mrs Angela Peasah, has urged young ladies to believe in themselves and embrace failure as part of the growth process, stressing that success is a gradual journey.
Speaking to over 500 Virtuous Ladies from 13 districts within the Haatso Area at this year’s Empowerment Conference at PIWC-ATOMIC in Accra over the weekend, she encouraged the young women to take advantage of every opportunity to learn.
She cited building soft skills, pursuing internships, seeking mentorship, and engaging in volunteerism as key to preparing them for future leadership roles.
Mrs Peasah modelled professionalism, resilience, spiritual well-being, and servant leadership. She shared her humble beginnings and attributed the turning point of her life to a solid foundation anchored in salvation, the Word of God and prayer.
Participants were the Virtuous Ladies, a young wing of the Women’s Ministry of the Church of Pentecost comprised 13 districts under the Haatso Area, namely: Atomic Hills, Pantang, PIWC-ATOMIC, Akporman, Libya Quarters, Dome Old Town, Adenta, Agbogba, Redco, Haatso, Dome New Town, Kwabenya Old Town, and Dome.
In line with the theme “Empowered to Fulfil my Calling,” this year’s Empowerment Conference focused on building five key soft skills for future leadership and national impact.
Effective Communication
A Strategic Human Resource Partner, International People Leader, Certified Counsellor, the current Haatso Area Virtuous Ladies Lead Coordinator of the Church of Pentecost, Mrs. Rita Sarpong Asante led the participants through Effective Communication Skills. The session emphasised clarity in speech, active listening, and confidence in delivery as essential tools for influence.
Leadership Skills
Mrs Mary Tobbin Osei, a Social Development Consultant and Business Entrepreneur, with over 30 years in leadership roles, took the ladies through the Leadership Skills session. She taught principles of influence, decision-making, and leading with integrity, and charged the Virtuous Ladies to lead with purpose, serve others first, and develop the confidence to take up leadership roles in the church, community, and workplace.
Conflict Management Skills
Deputy Director of Education at the Science Department in Kwabenya Community Senior High School, Mrs Salomey Armah, handled Conflict Management Skills had a session based on biblical principles of peacemaking and provided a practical guide for resolving disagreements. The ladies were equipped with tools to manage conflict with wisdom, communicate respectfully, forgive quickly, and turn challenging situations into opportunities for growth and unity in the church, home, and workplace.
Emotional Intelligence
Director of Human Resources, Accra Marriott Hotel, Mrs Ewurafua Boafo, engaged the participants on emotional intelligence.
Drawing from her over 16 years’ experience in HR leadership in hospitality, mining, oil & gas, engineering and agribusiness, she connected workplace excellence with christian character. She summarised Galatians 5:22-23 as pivotal for christian maturity and emotional intelligence, emphasising that the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are essential for managing emotions, building healthy relationships and leading effectively in both church and corporate spaces.
Public Speaking Skills
General Manager, Government/Corporate Affairs and Media Management at Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs Emma Adwoa Appiaa Osei-Duah, delivered a topic on Public Speaking Skills.
She equipped the ladies with practical strategies to overcome fear, anxiety, and stage fright during public speaking. Through real-life examples and actionable tips, she taught them how to speak with clarity, confidence, and composure, and to use their voices boldly as a tool for influence in ministry, the workplace, and the community.
The Haatso Area Head and his wife, Apostle William and Mrs Juliet Boakye Agyarko, the immediate past Area Women’s Ministry executives led by Dcns. Mrs Charlotte Amegatse, and other high-ranking guests were present to share their support.
Apostle William Boakye Agyarko was greatly impressed by the impact of the program and lauded the leadership of the Haatso Area Women’s Ministry and the Haatso Area Virtuous Ladies for their commitment and outstanding service. He further encouraged the participants to leverage these soft skills to possess the nations in every sphere of their lives.
The immediate past Haatso Area Women’s Ministry Executives, led by Dcns. Mrs. Charlotte Amegatse, was honoured with citation in recognition of their outstanding leadership and performance, which included the upliftment of the Virtuous Ladies.
The immediate past Haatso Area Virtuous Ladies Lead Coordinator, Dcns. Mrs. Mary Tobbin Osei, was also duly acknowledged with a citation of honour for birthing and nurturing the Virtuous Ladies until it was finally recognized as the young ladies’ wing of the Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost. Her phenomenal performance and achievements in pursuit of this vision were highly celebrated.
The Virtuous Ladies of the Atomic Hills District swept all the outstanding awards as the Most Engaging District and Highest in Participation.
A side attraction was an exhibition where ladies who have ventured into side businesses and entrepreneurship mounted their stands to promote and market their products and services.
The ladies expressed heartfelt appreciation and commended the facilitators for their excellent delivery. They expressed optimism that these five key soft skills will empower them to fulfil their calling in society.
