Kumasi, Aug. 10, GNA – The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has approved a number of development projects under its reviewed 2026 Annual Action Plan, despite a decline in grants to the Assembly.
The projects include the construction of a modern Divisional Police Station at the Central Police Station in Adum, a 20-seater toilet facility at the Kumasi Senior High Technical School, and the procurement of a vacuum sweeper truck.
Other projects approved are the construction of a urinal at the KMA Sanitation Court at Asem and fence walls around two schools.
The projects were approved at a General Assembly meeting held at the Prempeh Assembly Hall, where members reviewed the Assembly’s Annual Action Plan and Budget.
Presenting the reviewed Action Plan, Mr Charles Adjei, Metro Development Planning Officer, outlined the Assembly’s development priorities, while Mr Jones Kani, Metro Budget Analyst, presented the reviewed budget.
The Assembly members subsequently deliberated on the presentations and urged management to ensure the effective and timely implementation of the approved projects.
Mr Patrick Kwame Frimpong, Presiding Member of the Assembly, urged members to take their committee responsibilities seriously, saying committees played a critical role in the effective functioning of the Assembly.
He expressed concern about lateness and absenteeism at committee meetings, noting that such practices could deprive the Assembly of the contributions and expertise of members and ultimately affect development.
Mr Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, Metropolitan Chief Executive, and Mr Francis Dwira Darko, Metro Coordinating Director, also participated in the deliberations.
