Kenyan midfielder, Timothy Ouma, has joined English Championship side Charlton Athletic FC on a season-long loan deal from Czech giants Slavia Prague.

English Championship is the second tier football league in England below the English Premier League.

In a statement on Monday, Charlton Athletic said they had acquired the services of the 22-year-old Kenyan international on loan, with an option to make the deal permanent.

The 22-year-old Ouma will link up with his compatriot, defender Collins Sichenje, at the south-east London side nicknamed The Addicks.

Sichenje, who is also 22, sealed a permanent move to the club in February 2026. Sichenje signed a three-and-a-half year contract from Serbia’s top flight side FK Vojvodina.

Speaking after completing his move to Charlton, Ouma expressed his excitement at joining the club,  and promised to give his best to help the team excel.

“I’m grateful to be here. I’ll give it my all, and do my best to help the team achieve it objectives. I’m looking forward to seeing the supporters and hearing them cheer every tackle, every duel and every goal,” Ouma told the club’s website ( on Monday.

Charlton Athletic’s manager, Nathan Jones, said acquiring Ouma’s is a big achievement for the club since the player has been in their radar for a long time.

“We’re delighted to get Timothy over the line. He’s a player that we’ve monitored for a long, long time and he comes with a really good pedigree. He’s an athletic, technical midfield player who has had some good experience and he’ll add real quality to our midfield,” Jones told the club’s website.

Born in Nairobi, Ouma joined Slavia in February 2025 on a four-year deal from Swedish side IF Elfsborg, with reports indicating a transfer fee of around Sh473 million. The midfielder joined Elfsborg in 2022 from Kenyan side Nairobi City Stars.

He spent last season on loan at Poland’s Lech Poznan, playing an integral part in the team’s triumph of the Polish league.

Ouma is a key member of Harambee Stars’ squad with his last appearance coming in Kenya’s 3-0 defeat to African giants Cote d’Ivoire in a 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

He has represented Kenya 12 times, having earned his debut in a 1-1 draw with Uganda in November 2021.
