Kenya’s practical shooting community delivered an electrifying performance at the 2026 IPSC President’s Medals Championship, held at the Hado Shooting Range in Naivasha. The four-day event, organized under the Kenya Sports Shooting Federation (KSSF), served as a testament to the nation’s growing prowess in International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) competitions. With 18 meticulously designed courses of fire, the championship tested competitors on speed, precision, tactical decision-making, and mental resilience—qualities essential for excelling in high-pressure scenarios.

A Showcase of Discipline, Speed, and Precision

The event attracted over 60 elite competitors, including military personnel from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), law enforcement officers from the National Police Service (NPS) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), security professionals from the General Service Unit (GSU), and civilian shooters from various clubs across the country. The IPSC Level III Handgun and Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) Championship demanded unmatched focus, as every millisecond and shot counted toward victory.

Organizers highlighted that this year’s competition marked a significant leap in professionalism, with participants pushing their limits under internationally recognized standards. The demanding nature of the sport left no room for error—hesitation or a single misfire could mean the difference between glory and disappointment.

Standout Performances Across Divisions

1. Production Division: Ibrahim Ndungu’s Dominance

Ibrahim Ndungu, a standout representative of Kenya’s practical shooting scene, secured victory in the Production Division with a flawless display of consistency, accuracy, and tactical discipline. His performance underscored Kenya’s ability to compete at the highest levels of IPSC, where speed and precision are paramount.

2. Standard Division: Pravir Vohra’s Closely Contested Triumph

Pravir Vohra, a seasoned competitor, claimed the Standard Division title in one of the most fiercely contested races. His ability to adapt to rapidly changing scenarios and maintain impeccable form under pressure set him apart from the competition.

3. Optics Division: Johan Otto’s International Flourish

South African competitor Johan Otto dominated the Optics Division, showcasing the global caliber of the event. His mastery of high-tech shooting equipment and strategic positioning reinforced Kenya’s position as a regional powerhouse in practical shooting.

4. Production Optics: Morris Mureithi’s Continued Excellence

Kenya’s Morris Mureithi once again proved the depth of the nation’s talent pool by winning the Production Optics category. His refined technique and adaptability solidified his reputation as one of Africa’s most formidable shooters.

5. Open Division: Issa Issa’s Standout Victory

Issa Issa delivered a standout performance in the Open Division, securing the championship title with unmatched speed and accuracy. His ability to navigate complex stages with ease demonstrated why he is considered one of Kenya’s top-tier shooters.

6. PCC Division: Geoffrey Pesa’s Overcoming Stiff Competition

Geoffrey Pesa triumphed in the PCC Division after a tense battle with other elite competitors. His precision with carbine rifles and ability to maintain composure under intense scrutiny earned him well-deserved glory.

7. High Lady Title: Agatha Muchiri’s Unmatched Skill

Agatha Muchiri, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer, claimed the prestigious High Lady title with a remarkable performance. Her consistency, focus, and tactical brilliance proved that she stands among the best female shooters in the region, further elevating Kenya’s reputation in the sport.

Organizers Praise Kenya’s Growing Shooting Culture

The KSSF and event organizers praised the exceptional level of competition, stating that the championship reflected Kenya’s rapid progress in practical shooting. They emphasized that the event demanded absolute concentration, as competitors raced against both time and precision.

“This year’s event has gone a notch higher, showcasing the growing depth, resilience, and professionalism of practical shooting in Kenya. There was no room for hesitation or any miss—every competitor raced against the clock and the target. The winners have truly reflected the depth of talent on display.”

The organizers also noted that the IPSC standards provided a valuable platform for shooters to gain international experience, helping Kenya strengthen its position in regional and global competitions.

Looking Ahead: The Path to Greater Excellence

The success of this championship sets the stage for future competitions, with the IPSC Level III Handgun Championship scheduled for November at the renowned Bamburi Rifle Club in Mombasa. This upcoming event will further test Kenya’s elite shooters and provide an opportunity for young talents to emerge.

As Kenya’s practical shooting community continues to evolve, the discipline, innovation, and competitive spirit displayed at the 2026 IPSC President’s Medals Championship serve as a blueprint for future success. With military, law enforcement, and civilian shooters collaborating under the KSSF’s guidance, the nation is well-positioned to dominate regional and international stages in the years to come.
