The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana has deployed four accredited Media Administrative Officers to Scotland to provide coverage of Team Ghana’s participation in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games as part of efforts to increase the visibility of para sports and athletes.

The officers—Michael Obeng, Bill Eshun, Prince Andrew Dornu Leiku and Theophilus Sampah—left for Scotland on Monday, July 20, after receiving accreditation from the Commonwealth Games organisers.

They are expected to provide news reports, photographs, videos, interviews and behind-the-scenes coverage of Ghana’s Paralympic contingent throughout the Games.

NPC Ghana said the deployment forms part of its Media Administrative Officers Programme, introduced in 2025 to improve media coverage of para sports, strengthen disability inclusion and build the capacity of journalists specialising in Paralympic reporting.

The programme, launched under the leadership of NPC Ghana President and African Paralympic Committee President Samson Deen, initially assigned 38 journalists to the country’s para sport federations and the committee’s communications department.

Addressing the officers before their departure, Mr Deen urged them to approach the assignment with professionalism and patriotism.

“You are not travelling to Glasgow simply to report results. You are going to tell the stories of courage, sacrifice and determination that define our athletes,” he said.

He described the Glasgow Games as an important step in Ghana’s preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, saying every performance and experience would contribute to the country’s long-term development.

Team Ghana will be represented by Zinabu Issah, Hayford Addai and Nkegbe Botsyo in para athletics, Promise “Wonder Atsu” Aheto in para swimming and Tahiru Haruna in para powerlifting.

NPC Ghana said the media officers would follow the athletes throughout the competition, documenting their performances and sharing their stories with audiences in Ghana and abroad.

Mr Deen also thanked the Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation for providing logistical and administrative support for the team’s participation.
