A Better World Canada does mission trip to Kenya

A Better World Canada did a mission trip in Kenya in June.
This time, three different groups went to Kenya, Co-Founder Eric Rajah said.
“We had 21 people that travelled together; we had a rehab group that dealt with children with disabilities, there was the donor team made up of people who have donated to these projects who come to see where the money is going, and then the third group of people had a role in the classrooms.”
This year, a new rehab centre was opened, Rajah said.
“The rehab centre was opened in partnership with the local hospital. So there is surgery, then there’s a recovery centre, and we built the recovery centre, which has a gym, a place for physiotherapists to use.”
There were also people in project management who came on the trip, Rajah said.
“Their job is to make sure the construction is done right in partnership with the local manager.”
The oldest lady who came on the trip was 85-years-old, Rajah said.
“She worked every single day and would not slow down. She was always with the children, talking to them, reading to them, and that was very inspiring to see.”
For 36 years, A Better World has been working with people in Central Alberta and beyond to make a difference and break the cycle of poverty.
“In many of these countries, the children don’t get the opportunity to go to school. They don’t have the right facilities. They don’t have good bathrooms; they don’t have a feeding program. And the better the young people are educated, the better the country can become,” Rajah said.
“So the whole idea is to make the world better and to break the cycle of poverty. It’s addressing the root causes of poverty: education, health, water, agriculture. Our goal is to do our part in making the world better, and lots of people have followed me and have invested.”
Since starting in 1990, A Better World Canada has helped 62,945 students enroll in classrooms, has built/renovated 1,387 classrooms, has built/upgraded and supported 38 health clinics, has provided 45 communities with clean water, and has helped over 20,000 children with the rehab program.
