Kenya Power has invited continuing university and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students to apply for its September–November 2026 Industrial Attachment Programme, offering successful applicants an opportunity to gain practical work experience in various departments across the company.
In a notice published on Monday, July 20, 2026, the utility company said the attachment programme forms part of the government’s broader commitment to youth empowerment by equipping students with practical skills and workplace experience before they graduate.
“In line with the Government’s commitment to support youth empowerment, Kenya Power is offering exciting attachment opportunities to continuing students to gain hands-on work experience and develop key employability skills,” Kenya Power stated.
“The industrial attachment opportunities are available in various departments for a maximum period of three (3) months, effective September to November 2026.”
The company, however, clarified that there are no attachment opportunities for Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-related courses in the upcoming intake.
Who is eligible?
According to Kenya Power, applicants must be continuing students pursuing a Degree, Diploma or Craft Certificate from an accredited institution of learning.
Interested candidates must also be available full-time for the entire three-month attachment period, have a valid introduction letter from their respective institution, and possess a valid personal accident insurance cover for the duration of the attachment.
The company noted that only students pursuing courses in the advertised disciplines will be considered, adding that the attachment period is strictly limited to three months.
Applications close on July 27
Kenya Power said applications must be submitted online through the company’s careers portal.
The deadline for applications is Monday, July 27, 2026.
The utility cautioned that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and warned applicants against canvassing.
“Canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification,” the company stated.
Kenya Power also reiterated that it is an equal opportunity employer.

The attachment programme has become one of Kenya Power’s annual initiatives aimed at preparing students for the job market by exposing them to real workplace environments before graduation.
Successful applicants are deployed to different technical and administrative departments depending on their area of study, where they work under professional supervision while gaining hands-on experience.
The utility says the programme helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice by allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world assignments.
Growing demand for attachment opportunities
Industrial attachment has become a mandatory requirement for many university and TVET programmes in Kenya, making placement opportunities highly competitive.
Thousands of students seek attachment positions every year in government institutions, state corporations and private companies to satisfy graduation requirements while building practical skills sought by employers.
Kenya Power remains one of the country’s largest public sector employers offering structured attachment programmes, particularly for students pursuing engineering, finance, business, procurement, human resource management, environmental sciences and other non-ICT disciplines.
The latest recruitment comes as the government continues encouraging public institutions to expand internship and industrial attachment opportunities as part of efforts to tackle youth unemployment and improve graduates’ employability.
Students interested in the programme are required to submit their applications before the July 27 deadline through Kenya Power’s official careers portal.
