Trained rigorously at the Ghana Police Training School in Tesano, this elite group of agricultural graduates represents far more than a new workforce. They are the frontline drivers of a national mission to secure Ghana’s food future, optimize local crop yields, and build a resilient agribusiness economy.
Why the Brigade is Vital for Ghana
For decades, the gap between scientific agricultural research and practical, on-the-farm implementation has limited the potential of local farmers. The Feed Ghana Brigade directly bridges this divide. Equipped with deep technical knowledge, these graduates are strategically positioned to deliver real-time extension services, introduce modern agronomic practices, and mobilize rural communities.
Furthermore, by distributing brand-new motorbikes and operational allowances to the cohort, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has removed the historic barrier of mobility. These officers can now penetrate remote farming zones, ensuring that even smallholder farmers receive the technical counseling, soil management advice, and climate-smart strategies required to boost productivity. From helping rural cooperatives scale up operations to assisting local schools in establishing vibrant gardens, the structural design of this program addresses food security from both the macro economic level and the grassroots household level.
