Although her campaign began with disappointment after a hard-fought opening-round singles defeat to Great Britain’s Indianna Spink, the Kenyan quickly shifted her attention to the doubles competition, where she and Black proved nearly unbeatable.

Their road to the title was far from straightforward.

The pair produced one of the standout performances of the tournament in the semifinals, battling back from adversity to eliminate the third-seeded duo in a dramatic comeback victory and secure a place in the championship match.

They carried that momentum into Friday’s final, delivering another composed performance to clinch the Lexus British Pro Series W50 Nottingham doubles crown and complete an impressive run on the grass courts.

The triumph comes at a significant stage in Okutoyi’s career following her recent decision to relocate her permanent training base to London.

She is now working full-time under the guidance of legendary Zimbabwean Grand Slam champions Wayne and Cara Black, a move aimed at accelerating her rise through the professional ranks.

Winning a W50 title so soon after making the transition offers immediate encouragement that the decision is already paying dividends.

The Nottingham success also adds another chapter to what has been an outstanding 2026 season for the Kenyan star.

Earlier this year, Okutoyi dominated the W35 Nairobi tournaments, sweeping both singles and doubles titles in consecutive events to complete a remarkable quadruple crown.

She then added another trophy at the SanLúcar Ladies Open before extending her winning run with the W50 Nottingham doubles title.

With her biggest professional trophy now secured, Okutoyi continues to build valuable ranking points and confidence as she pursues her long-term ambition of climbing the WTA rankings and earning direct qualification into Grand Slam main draws.
