The Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) of Ghana has officially unveiled Team Ghana’s squad for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, announcing a 38-member team that will represent the nation across nine disciplines.

The selected athletes have earned their places through outstanding performances and a rigorous selection process, the CGA said in a statement released on Monday, July 13, 2026. The squad now enters the final phase of preparation with intensified training, sports science support, and international-standard performance programmes.

Ghana will field athletes in athletics, boxing, judo, para-athletics, para-powerlifting, para-swimming, swimming, track cycling, and weightlifting. The squad includes 13 track and field athletes led by sprinters Benjamin Azamati and Joseph Paul Amoah, who both return to lead the nation’s charge in the sprints and relays. Azamati enters the Games with a season’s best of 10.00 seconds in the 100m, while Amoah has clocked 20.24 seconds in the 200m.

Rose Yeboah, Ghana’s high jump sensation, also makes the squad after clearing 1.96m during the NCAA season. The women’s sprint team will be led by Deborah Acheampong, Anita Afrifa, and Evonne Britton.

In boxing, Ghana will field ten athletes including Nancy Bamfo, Ramatu Quaye, and Ebenezer Ankrah, among others. The para-athletics team features three athletes: Zinabu Issah, a Paris 2024 Paralympian in the women’s F57 category; Hayford Addai, an 18-year-old prospect in the T47 sprint classification; and veteran Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, a three-time Paralympian and one of Ghana’s most celebrated para athletes.

Tahiru Haruna, Africa’s top-ranked powerlifter who won four medals at the 2026 World Para Powerlifting Championships, will compete in the men’s 100kg+ division, while Promise Aheto completes the para squad in swimmin.

The judo team features Elizabeth Oduro (63kg) and Frema Agyei (57kg), while the cycling team comprises Erica Sedzro and Emmanuel Sackey in track cycling . Weightlifters Yayra Akos Gozi, Abdul Salim Adjetey Adjie, Emmanuel Amo Boateng, and Forrster Christopher Osei will also represent Ghana.

Swimmers Nubia Adjei, Unilez Takyi, Abeku Jackson, and Ivan Snowden complete the squad.

Ghana’s participation in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled for July 23 to August 2, builds on the country’s strong record at the Games, having won 63 medals across previous editions. The final delegation comprises athletes alongside a specialised technical team of coaches, medical staff, and trainers.
