Accra, July 11, GNA – Management and staff of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have actively participated in the National Clean-Up Exercise to promote environmental sanitation and civic responsibility.

The exercise was led by Major General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, the Director-General of NACOC, alongside his two Deputy Directors-General, Lawyer Alexander Twum-Barimah, the Deputy in charge of Enforcement Control and Elimination, and Mr Stephen Yeboah, the Deputy in charge of General Services.

They were joined by some directors and staff to clean the environs of the NACOC Headquarters and the Annex buildings.

A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said the exercise began early on Friday morning July 10, 2026, as its leadership and staff abandoned their desks for physical labor, armed with shovels, brooms, wheelbarrows, and Wellington boots.

It said the executive team cleared choked gutters, desilted drains, and swept the streets surrounding the Commission’s offices.

The statement said the active participation of the top management served as a strong motivation for the junior ranks, ensuring a high level of enthusiasm throughout the morning.

It added that the clean-up was not centralised in the capital, hence in a coordinated show of patriotism, all NACOC regional commands and border posts across Ghana simultaneously carried out the exercise.

The statement said officers in the various regions cleared weeds, gathered plastic waste, and tidied public spaces within their respective jurisdictions, contributing significantly to the national sanitation drive.

The leadership of NACOC emphasised that public safety extended beyond fighting drug-related crimes, to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

The Management, commended all officers nationwide for their discipline and dedication, reinforcing NACOC’s commitment to supporting national development initiatives outside its core security mandate.
