Talent Identification: Kurt Okraku excited with elite youth scouting exercise in London

President Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku has expressed satisfaction with the organisation and quality on display at the latest elite youth scouting exercise held for Ghanaians born and raised in London and its environs. The President, who observed the session, praised the turnout, punctuality, and talent level of the young players involved.

“Well, let me start by talking about the general organisation. The way I have seen it, I think that I’m very impressed with the way things have been put together,” President Okraku said.

”Also, what’s most important is that the session started on time. The kids reported very early, and that’s a big plus. Now, having said that, turnout has been good. You could see clearly that a lot of them are playing on the back of the fact that they’ve been off-season, as you can see. But this doesn’t take away the quality in them. Quality-wise, talent-wise, I’m very happy about what I have seen.”

President Simeon-Okraku noted that while player selection rests with the designated scouting team, the depth of potential on display marks a strong foundation for the future.

“At least I’m not the person who is picking the players, even though I can also see good players. But I think that is a very, very good start for us and for Ghana football. And for the kids who are here, it’s a big opportunity for them to be very clear that we do have pathways that they can explore.”

He reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to making the exercise a regular feature and expanding its reach.

“I’m looking forward to repeating this exercise year in, year out, and also taking this exercise into other strategic platforms where Ghanaian kids can also have the opportunity to realise their dreams. Well, I would say that this is just a start. Like I’ve already promised publicly, this is a start. We’re going to make sure that we widen the net and allow every kid to realise their dream. They should just be patient, and very soon we shall be using or relying on the same communication channels to communicate with the parents and their clubs and bring them over for many more sessions, I would say.”
